Re: Totse Calendar 2009
Partial excerpt recovered from a real site search result - not the full post.
I did a little digging in some really old archives and I found the very first post ever on totse. The first post is is from May 24, 1989, so on May 24, 2009 @ 21:15:32 (Pacific time) totse will be 20 years old.
At the time I set the site up the majority of BBS systems were for transferring software (shareware and pirated) and most discussion revolved around computers and software. I set up totse as a communications hub. Originally there were no files to download, just message forums. Eventually I started adding text files full of weird and wonderful information, which became the basis for the site you see now.
This is the very first post:

Welcome to a brand-new BBS!
You have reached & the Temple of the Screaming Electron. A BBS specializing in Knowledge, Information, Speculation, Innuendo, and Lies. Raw data, that is, spewed from the keyboards of BBSers bored with file transfers and desiring COMMUNICATION. This is not a BBS solely for computer-types, this is a BBS for anyone who can use a terminal program and type semi-literate English.
With that in mind, I hope you'll check out the message base and see what you can contribute. There are also on-line games, questionaires, and bulletins. Feel free to explore and look around. Don't worry if things don't appear to work or seem a little strange. That's OK, this is a home-brewed BBS and things can get a little bizarre. This is one of four Alpha (primary) test sites for DMG BBS Software. If you have any problems send E-Mail to the Sysop (me), or post a message, or both.
On with the show!
