Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought.

Talking My prediction - The Future of the US

Obama will become president at the worst possible time. Everything in the news is "OMFG Economic CRISIS!!", obama will get in, and get blamed, get called a nigger, a civil war will break out and the stoopid Americans will kill each other off. Then in the ruins the Mexicans will rise and claim the land as their own and grow weed everywhere.

That...or a similar scenario that is more 'political'.

What I'd like to see is America fending for itself against real enemies, you'd crumble.

What are you going to do eh?

Probably eat cranberra sauce with their turkies at Thanksgiving and rue whoever the new President Elect is.

That is if they haven't lost their jobs, been evicted & begun living under an overpass....

I predict that the nigger gets elected and ends up allowing congress to largely set the agenda.
Special interest groups to reign supreme, the necessary lip service is paid to democratic causes.
America doesn't invade any other countries but continues on its merry way to hell.

If McCain were to be elected, America still continues heading toward hell in a hand-basket, only more slowly as he'd have to play politics and lock heads with congress.

If Obama wins, as it looks like he will assuming he doesn't get too confident and let it get away, there's going to be high expectations of his first term. If he doesn't do shit right, a white Republican will likely replace him in four years. I don't think there will be any civil war.

Americans have a lot of say in what goes down in Iraq you dumbass. We basically own the country. If I say we should get out then its my right as a citizen. If an American thinks we should stay than its their right as a citizen to express that opinion. We've lost a lot of family and friends to that shit hole and our lives are harder because of this fucking war. I'm not saying Australians don't have the right to express their opinion but I am saying an Australian opinion is worthless in US politics.

I think Obama cant win because Americans are going to think when their voting if they can actually vote for a black guy, they wont. Mccain will get elected and were gonna have another 8 yrs of shit and the same people that are complaining about Bush now will be doing the same thing to Mccain. Repetition.

No, I hit the nail on the head. This is a thread on a public internet forum about the future of the state of the union based on current political and economic circumstances. You're ignorance to the involvement of every US citizen in the affairs of Iraq kind of offended me. I also saw it fit to point out whose opinion on these matters will actually count when election day rolls around and I don't think he's going to be saying, "G'day mate!"

Not a prediction, but a hope:

The government, in collaboration with the major market players, keep the market low and allow growth every once in awhile. Not even good growth, but just a little. Foreign currency will drop faster than American currency during this time. As soon as the US dollar is the most expensive currency, the market is once again allowed to grow at a slow and steady rate.

Apparently you are ignorant about a lot of things, especially your minuscule involvement in Iraq. Your post about American citizen's relationship with Iraq implied we shouldn't have a say in what happens in a country we've lost so much to. Forgive me and my colleague for believing your Australian opinion's are what they actually are, worthless, as opposed to our own opinion's that will mean a lot for our country and Iraq very shortly.

Oooh another Aussie jumping in....

You get your news from the same sources we do pal.
Were on the same internet buddy.
You know our countries have a free trade agreement?
That our stock markets often mirror each other in day to day trade?
That our millitary forces undergo joint training exercises all the time?
Shit there was a US warship docked in sydney just last weekend, one of your marines broke curfew and assaulted a hooker.
That we are in afghanistan and iraq as well friend?

Who the fuck is your colleague huh? You work with this guy? Your an advisor on politics to the white house?

You're 14 and you have little to no grasp on the way globalisation works, your opinion on iraq is as useless as his opinion on iraq which is as useless as mine.

If you are old enough to vote then i feel sorry that the race is being decided by the likes of you.

Yes and this is irrelevant you stupid inbred.

The bitch probably tried to tell him who to vote for, and no you are not in Iraq and Afghanistan. Your troops are sitting on their asses in the back watching everyone else do the work. US, UK, and Canada are the ones making sacrifices.

You don't know anything about me. Aussies don't have a vote in America so shut the fuck up. You can't change it. I do have a vote so my opinion is the only one that actually counts.

Pop an Adderall and pay attention. My comments are about whose thoughts actually count in the US. I didn't say shit about stock markets, joint operations, hookers, and all this other shit you seem to be pulling out of your ass. Everyone on the planet has a "stake" in the US government fucktard, just not a say.

Not to mention that unless you live in a swing state your opinion doesn't mean jack either as far as who becomes president.

I believe differently. It's an American thing you wouldn't understand. Something we feel whenever we read about our forefathers makes us believe this is our country and it is what we make it. Some believe we can shape the world without letting it shape ourselves. As an isolationist I believe differently. As a voter, tax-payer, and citizen I can do more than just vote and pay my taxes. I can and do make a huge impact on my community. Change starts from the bottom not from the top. If Americans start making changes in the community it will go up from there. As a voter I have a chance to voice that opinion. The power isn't in your hands its in my hands. In the hands of Americans. When we start making changes in our community and giving a fuck instead of being distracted by the media, scare tactics, and lies things will happen. This is a government that is run by the people. When more people start getting outside and talking to people instead of sitting under the TV then they will start seeing the change they really want.

BTW fuck you and the rest of the world. You don't have a stake in shit over here.

I think this country could be run by the people and has been run by the people in the past but currently it is in no way shape or form being run by the people. Perhaps certain minor aspects of the U.S is controlled by us but I wouldn't say to a significant amount to the point where all we have to do is voice our opinion and if the general consensus agree's than just like that its done. A perfect example of that is the 700 billion dollar bailout plan. I think its safe to assume that most people totally disagreed with it and in fact voiced their opinion on the matter...guess what happened. Congress eventually passed the bill under pressure from the Senate and Executive Branch. The government doesn't care what we think and this is not exclusive to our Country and time in History. This is a a common de facto in civilization and only on rare occassions do we ever see a government that actually works for the people such as the case of the post revolutionary period in early American History. Most governments contemporary and historically have worked for the people just enough to stablize society. This in no way shape or form means formulating policies that help us directly but rather ones that help the country out which could or could not help us out indirectly. For instance, Many of the policies adopted by the Early Qin Dynasty, who I might add successfully unified China for the first time, were implemented for the sole purpose of expanding the Dynasty rather than for the purpose of helping the citizens out. Many policies such their punishment policies sound very parallel to Orson Well's future society. It was required that family members rat other members out otherwise if that person was caught for committing the crime the family members around him would also be punished for not telling on him. This was a mechanism used to monitor and control society which ultimately expanded the power of the Dynasty contributing to the unification of China under one rule. So you see, It is a common misconception that policies, government officials pass, are used to help out its own citizens but rather their core purpose is to expand the Country which might or might not benefit its citizens. When you hear the president on the News talk about doing this and doing that the help out the people, its really more or less sugar coated words that says "doing this is going to help the country out....and it might help you guys out but thats not our concern". What you need to understand is the reason for this is because there are way too many people in a society to please everyone. The Government needs to adopt policies that will benefit the Country as a whole rather than with individuals and if its an effective Government it will adopt policies that will both help its citizens out as well as its country out....but thats not that case a lot of the times....if thats not the case all the time...Civil unrest occurs. Anyway thats just a little rant on my view of the psychology of politics. But on that note I should say that the biggest threat I'm seeing with America isn't what's out there but rather whats in here. Sure we're very domesticated in that we will obey our leaders decisions without physically fighting but how long will that last? If you read up on current events in America you can see the two primary parties dividing even further. I can't even watch political debates anymore because they mostly just try to one up each other rather than discuss the issues at hand and try to work it out. Foreign threats is an issue but because of our superior defense that threat isn't nearly as high as we the people are. If the government keeps doing what its doing they will plant their own seeds of destruction and ordinary citizens like you and me will be the ones fighting...not for oil, or because we want to pursue our own American dream but to regain our own freedoms which are slowly slipping away. Although don't think it's going to be similar to the previous revolution because with time a lot of things change. The government today is much more powerful than the British government on the former colonies, so in essence, if a second revolutionary war sprouted in the distant future it will be much more bloody and the odds are much more against us. Of course this type of future is very presumptious at this point, but if trends like what we see continue into the future its possible we might see something like this. Anyway I'll stop now before I begin to ramble...

Funny thing is, we don't need nukes to send the US back to the stoneage, as your doing a good job teaching your own kids near neolithic beliefs in schools. :D

Oh I agree, American children are horribly stupid, and get more stupid every generation.

Don't see what your smiling about. If a bunch of drooling retards have the launch codes 80 years from now, where does that leave your country? Shitting it's pants?

They might vote for politicians who want to tax them to death for a bit of 'change' ;)
