Does fiberglass burn?
A friend of mine has to get rid of an old jacuzzi, and instead of paying the ridiculous fee to take it to the dump, he wants to have me help him chop it up with a chainsaw and burn the pieces. This seems like a bad idea, since most of it is made of fiberglass, and I'm pretty sure it's illegal to dispose of it this way. Fuck that though, my question is: will fiberglass burn?
I know it's essentially very fine strands of glass and a resin. I assume the resin will burn, and I know glass has a melting point of about 1400-1600 degrees C, so it would just be a matter of getting the fire hot enough, right?

Re: Does fiberglass burn?
Not well. Also wear respirators because fiberglass in the lungs sucks the big one. And you're going to have issues getting that hot without a kiln.
Just chop it up, put it in a car/van (free to take to the dump, unlike any sorta truck) and throw it out.

Does metal burn?
Well yeah your glass can burn but not how you'd like it to, I wouldn't go near fibreglass my mate was going bobsledding on a sheet of plastic with old fibreglass underneath it, originally some form of insulation.. he crashed, the board broke and millions of little strips coated all over him, I've never seen anything like it.
That stuff will have doctors fucking around for hours trying to remove it, me poor old mate still claims to feel 'prickling' everytime he kneels forward.. traumatising.

Re: Does fiberglass burn?
Fiberglass doesn't burn very well at all, unless you've got some chlorine trifluoride to dump on it or something. And I can think of better uses for the ClF3...

Re: Does fiberglass burn?
Here's a few ideas if you DON'T want to be a dumbass...
1) Drop that ho off somewhere behind a store or an abandon place somewhere. Don't throw a pussyfit they WILL NOT print it. Yeah I know, omg, they WONT print it. LOL
2. Put it in your front yard with a sign saying "FREE!" People will come by and put it in their truck before you know it. They don't give a fuck if it works or not, they are hicks, they THINK they can fix it. Then once they take it, fuck em.
3. Sell it. "Does it work?" YOU: "Yep sure does".
There's various ways that do NOT have to do with killing yourself painfully or payin a whole $50 to rid yourself of it.
