Default Shadow Bugs

I have been thinking lately about common hallucinations people have on various drugs, and the reason behind these shared sights.
It seems many people would attribute these to a "universal consciousness", but until that's scientifically recognized it's bullshit in my book.

So I have been pondering reasons why this is, and decided to start with insects. It seems that seeing insects is one of the most common hallucinations there is. I have read countless trip reports of people who have seen these shadow bugs, I have seen them myself a few times, and recently my friend told me that his grandfather who is sick with cancer sees them when he takes his morphine. Shadow bugs seem to be most common with deliriant's, but also crop up with all sorts of other drugs.

My guess is that it comes down to hard-wired instinct that when you see something that is very small and moving to automatically label it as a bug before you even consciously realize. Small twitch's in your vision caused by some drugs are then interpreted as a bug and your brain superimposes an insect memory on that twitching spot.

So since I'm sure BLTC has had much experience with these little guys I am wondering what you have to say about it.

i definitely think youre right about why people label it a bug.

but i think the most common hallucinations is colors that are moving or just objects pulsing, vibrating, breathing, what have you.

oh most typical psychs like mushrooms and lsd colors and things moving are the more common, ive never seen any bugs on lsd or shrooms...

another one people see on certain things or after a sheer amount of time without being asleep are the shadow people... or treeples...

Haha I saw bugs when I was shrooming last night and the night before. Seeing shit crawl up my wall out of the corner of my eye just fucks with me too much.

Also the other night when I'd walk by trees I could see them grow a little bit in front of me, don't know if thats a common visual or not though.

Yea I agree with the bugs thing. Probably because you're tripping or whatever and you see something small and moving, the psychedelic "enhances" that idea and makes you think that it's real. My mom used to work at a hospital in the gereatrics (spelling?) unit and she said a common thing people would see when they were dying is three men just standing in the room. Don't know all the details but that's about it. This brings up another interesting point about the whole thing of whether or not DMT is released in your brain before or after you "die". It might just be that even though our brains are a little different, we're similar enough that one drug can affect is in a specific enough way that we share a common hallucination. A good example is when things "breath" on an acid trip (or other trips).

Try to tell yourself that when you feel them under your skin.

HAHAHAHA, thats completely different though.

I dont always attribute it to bugs, if im walking around my house at night and see something out of the corner of my eye I usually assume it's my cat. also, this happens to me alot when I'm sober, but it deff happens more under the influence. they seem really bad for me on opiates for some reason.

That's related to the spacial awareness mechanisms that already exist in everybody's brain. I once read that is why men are better drivers, because they have better developed spacial awareness skills for things like spear throwing and hunting, whereas women are better at recognizing facial expressions, and details and things like that, because they were in a campsite kind of setting. Something like that. I think most psychedelics affect only a small part of the brain, color interpretation, space, things like that. Much the same way alcohol directly chemically affects your inner ear, which makes you dizzy when you're drunk with enough alcohol in your blood.

I don't see those kinda things WHILE I'm tripping.

The months after doing way too many psychedelics though, is another story. Those fuckers don't go away and a shadow fly swatter doesn't seem to work.

I've seen full blown shadow animals, right in my direct line of sight, that didn't disappear when looked at, after 3 days tweeking, I decided it would be a great idea to try IVLSD for the first time. I saw shadow birds and rats and shit just flying around and running around. So fucking crazy.

Yea, from what I've read, certain psychedelics (like acid) just change the way your body receives information, I don't know, pretty interesting stuff that I don't know enough about, should look into it more. I have seen "shadow people and animals" in trees while tripping more than a few times that I could look right at. Also things like trees turning into faces.

And

Hahaha. That sounds pretty fucking intense. One of my buddies stayed up for like 3-4 days and had some hallucinations, and then I stayed up for like 2 days once and things got a little weird, but 3 days tweaking hard then some acid on top I could not imagine. Was it a fucking intense trip?

More importantly did you know that certain insects experience a 'universal conciousness' meaning every new generation is born with the experiences of its predecessors even finer tuning their instincts?

Think about that shit and tell me that doesn't trip you out.

Stay safe,

you don't see bugs when you're on shrooms or anything..

but when i used to take diphen at doses around 200 mg or higher I'd see huge ass scary spiders, and disgusting fish, and shit. the worst is seeing a huge tarantula run across your wall, or taking a piss and seeing a black, horned fish in the toilet.

Once, I'd been up for nearly a week doing ice, and I used up more than one can of bug spray near the vent in my room while I was completely freaked cleaning.

That same summer, I also was all paranoid and called the cops on the shadow people in the woods next to my house after a few days of feuding with them! Even spending hours outside with a flashlight and a screwdriver. I even had my cat with so I could watch which direction his ears moved to listen.

ive seen what looked like bugs crawling through the veins of my hand on a couple hits of acid before, but thankfully i couldnt feel them... i stopped staring at my hand when it withered to bone and it looked like bugs were crawling though the veins...

They're also called shadow people and are a byproduct of sleep deprivation. You don't typically get them when you've taken amps for a few hours rather than days at a time. Spiders are common with diphen. Tunnels and "beings of pure energy" tend to occur with DMT. Tracers, of course, are common with all psychs, and breathing objects on LSD. It almost sounds too correlated to write off as natural, huh?

Yep, treeples are narcs or cops that hide behind trees and watch you. And I didn't just stand at the window, I went out, pistol in hand and demanded they show themselves.
