| Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more! |

Gaming TVs
Mod-I'm not sure where this goes, so move as necessary.
Anyway, I recently bought myself a Playstation 3. I'm still using my old small-ass CRT, and I wanna upgrade to either DLP, LCD, Plasma but im not sure which to go with

Re: Gaming TVs
Anything Sony makes, because they should just stick to making TVs anyways. Also it's a guarantee that your PS3 will look nice on a Sony.
Also, don't create your own little sig.
Also also, Dragonforce sucks major cock.
And wait a fucking second, you live in Reading PA?
I though I was the only white person here.

As I said before, Sony makes a great television. That is, if you have the money.

Re: Gaming TVs
Samsung is very nice too. The new 120 Hz line of LCD's are awesome. I found a 46 in. new Samsung from Amazon for around $1500. That was the upgrade for our family TV though, if it's just for you I wouldn't spend that much money or get a 46 in.
But yeah, Samsung, Sony, Sharp, LG probably, are all very nice. My friend has a Mitsubishi 65 in. DLP TV which is pretty sweet also, but its way too fucking huge for my tastes. DLP's are also significantly thicker and heavier than LCD's so, I would just go with an LCD.

Re: Gaming TVs
Definitely go with an LCD. They're simply better for gaming, particularly in lit rooms. The best brands are Sony and Samsung, Sony because they put a lot of money into their TVs (and also cost a lot,) and Samsung because they know how to make LCDs (they're the largest producer of LCD screens in the world by far, and actually make the screens for Sony-Ericsson mobiles among many other brands.)

Re: Gaming TVs
Aside from trading a tiny bit of sharpness [which I actually prefer], plasmas have vastly superior contrast and color fidelity to LCDs.
