Superhuman strength?
I was lifting weights the other day and i always put the threshold my muscles can lift and only do like a couple of reps. Well, one day i wasn't thinking and put about 15lbs more than i could possobly lift. After i am done benching my arms were hurting and i thought i pulled i ligament or something because i had trouble moving my arms and that's when i had realized how much i had actually lifted. I was wondering if the mind wanted to, it could completely rip the muscles past regular maximum capacity.

Re: Superhuman strength?
Yes, it could, possibly even without any foreign substances whatsoever... But you would be in a world of hurt for quite a while after.

Re: Superhuman strength?
Im sure there will some cases when i think the pain will be worth it. Do you know if there is a technique needed to do this?

Re: Superhuman strength?
The body won't actually use all of its strength unless it absolutely needs to. In certain situations, your muscles can go into overdrive.
I've gone to the gym drunk before and didn't realize that I was lifting alot more than I can usually lift and for more reps. I was so sore for like a week afterwords. Never been sore like that since. I think I upped the amount I was dumbbell curling in each arm by like 20 pounds.

Re: Superhuman strength?
I remember reading is one anecdote about a high jumper. He could jump X feet. But everytime he raised the bar an inch, he couldn't clear it. One day, when he wasn't looking, his training partners/coach/whatever raised the bar without him knowing. He though the bar was still X' high not X'1". He went for it and cleared it. Like you see the spotters yelling "lite-wait-man." The moral of the story is that, next time you're spotting someone, rack on another 50# on the bar without the person knowing.

That's a really bad idea.

Re: Superhuman strength?
PCP. Makes pain don't hurt so you can lift things till you arms break. sweet!
Failing that, there are stories of soccer moms who lift their car of their dying young ones and things like that. Likely they broke something though.

Re: Superhuman strength?
Yes, there have been phenomena reported that is sort of like people tapping into the potential of the human body. Soccer moms lifting cars, people doing ridiculous feats of strength in times of need, things like that.
