Default Trouble unrarring files on Ubuntu (keeps asking for PW)

Anyone else have this problem? Loads of times I download an unpassworded rar file but when I try to extract it on Ubuntu it asks me for a password. I downloaded that rar, unrar command from the repository. The archive manager that comes with Ubuntu is crap in my opinion. Are there any better ones to use? More importantly is there a way around this password prompt crap? Theres no password for the rar file but for some reason is asks me for one while its extracting and it won't extract when I don't enter one.

Are you sure there's no password?

The Gnu/Linux version of unrar is a bit fucked; I've had good luck with unrar-free, but sometimes the RAR's just break that too. I keep WinRAR installed in WINE, and try to stay away from RAR's anyways. LZMA is much more compressed.

I tried restarting the comp then unrarring and it worked. I never tried WINE. I hear it makes you prone to windows based viruses.

No, even if you run them directly (which you have to) they don't do much.

Remember, mindlessly power-cycling a machine won't fix anything. What you did you could probably have accomplished by restarting X. Find out the root of the problem and solve it.
