YellowDog 6 PS3 help

So... first of all there is the infamous (I say infamous since all n00b ydps3 users encounter this) black box around my gui. So I go into terminal to allow the resolution to support wide screen... It works, but what I get is a screen that is split in half, but think of it as the two halfs facing backwards, where as I go to the far left of the screen to get to the right and vice versa.

My next issue is gnash. When I typed the yum install command in the terminal for gnash it obtains the data but I get a "nothing to do" rather than a y/n command.
