Why do you want a live CD distro? (I assume that's what live distro meant.)

Arch and Gentoo are both somewhat light-weight distros, gentoo is better IMHO.

Good luck on making 'a piece of shit' play music.

You want a copy of Linux? go to kernel.org
Load it on a floppy then use the bios to load it;
the easiest way to do it is to trick the bios to load the floppy, put 'YJ$DSfloppyc:0dyaz' as a bios password, then reboot.
EDIT: lbhegurcvrprbsfuvg,zbeba would work better, really

You can use it as an hackbox, look at the threads in my profile, there is one about hacktools.

96 meg of ram is more than enough to play music, assuming the rest of the hardware is near spec.

on a tangent, it shits me that kids come in think that anything lower than the latest quad core system cannot do basic tasks. my old old box had 64 meg of ram and i happily ran opera with as many tabs as i would like, winamp and messenger.
