Default Qestion about half life regarding benzos

One more question:

I indulgenced on about 100mg of Lorazepam over the course of about years ago. would that have any effect on tolerance now? Or does the half life diminishing kill the tolerance.

How long does it take for your tolerance to die down? It is completely gone after the drug has lived out it's half life?

Also How does doing more before the half life is comoleatly lived up effect to the tollerence?

For example if I took 20 mg of diazepam

Half life later my 20mg has turned into 10, would taking 10 more bring me up to the same level as when I originally took the 20 mg?

Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm trying to learn and I hope I have asked some acceptable questions

Longterm tolerance is something that happens depending on what it is you're taking.

I don't have any input on the Benzo side of things but as far as Opiates are concerned I can say a thing or two.

For about 5-6 months I was doing Fentanyl heavily. The definition of heavily for me being daily/semi-daily (with about a 2 week break every 2 months or so).

Since that time my tolerance has gone up and stayed that way. I took about a 2-3 month break after my time with Fent and even on my first time back to opiates I needed to take quite a large dose to get the desired effects.

As far as getting rid of such a tolerance I'm not totally sure. I think that it could be lowered again but it could take as long as a year before it goes back to what it once was. I have yet to try such a thing so this is merely a theory.

Keep in mind, Before the Opiate, there's the mental side of tolerance too. You'll feel as if you can't reach the same level of high as you once were able to.

http://www.toxicologyassociates.com/UNDERSTANDING%20OPIATE%20TOLERANCE.htm This link makes a few points that might be of interest.

I remember reading somewhere that long-time opiate use could permanently render receptors in the brain less sensitive to ope's, but don't ask me to cite the source, I havn't got a clue.

Eh..I'm not concerned with getting as high as I was with Fent..I'm not delusional. I know nothing is going to rival that.

I've heard something to that effect as well and it may explain my problems to an extent. My time with Fent was also combined with OC's and Oxycodone. The days/weeks I would lay off Fent I wasn't totally off the opes.

No, 100mg of lorazepam taken over a period of year should not effect tolerance now. Although Im not exactly sure what you mean by 'over the course of about years ago'.

Tolerance is all dependent on what drug you are talking about. Marijuana tolerance can lessen within a week, while drugs like opiates and benzos can take a couple months, if not more. There is no set 'time', its all according to the individuals body.

And the half life of a drug really does not effect tolerance as much as you think it does. I do not believe there is a direct correlation between the two, but I could be wrong. Tolerance is something you build up over time through heavy use; half life is just the amount of time it takes whatever substance to lose half of its effectiveness. To give you an example, klonopin has a much longer half life then xanax does(Between 2-3x), yet you build up to a tolerance to xanax within weeks while klonopin takes much longer.

And there are so many factors that can effect that last question that im not going to even try to address it. In theory, yes, but in practical, who the fuck knows; there are way too many variables at stake

I meant 100mg of ativan over the course of about a weef, 1 year ago.

I was pretty fucked up when I wrote that although I don't think I realized it as the time. I look 130mg my first time using diazepam, thought I only took 10 and I couldn't fucking remember what happened to the other 3.

Also another tolerance question. If I took 13 yesterday and took 7 today would I Still be at 0 tolerance, or has it started to build up. If I Waited like a week would it be back to 0?

Would the 13 I took yesterday effect the tolerance to the 7 I took just now?

Will 1 large dose build up a large tolerance for a few days then go away?

Thanks for the help.

You wouldnt exactly be at '0' tolerance if you want to put it that way, but your 'tolerance' is null, if anything; and you will feel the 70mg that you took today. The only issue is that if you really took 13 yesterday, and pop 7 today, your going to be disapointed. Not so much tolerance wise, but since you took a large dose your probaly going to be looking for more since your almost cutting the dose in half. It's like snorting at OC 80 one day, then the next day you rail a 40. Your still going to be thinking "Ah wtf I was much higher yesterday", if that makes any sense; Im pretty fucking benzoed out ATM. But since you said you dont remember anything, you might actually enjoy 70mg's. Although that is still a high dose, benzos are no fun if your just going to black out.

And tolerance is something you build up over time, just because you take a big dose once doesnt meant your suddenly going to become tolerant to the drug, not even close. It takes time; you'll build up a larger tolerance taking 10mg of Valium a day for 2 weeks then if you took 120 mgs at once. Get what im saying?
