eating hash flash mcscrabbledash
a friend of mine tells me that eating unprepared hash(ie not making cannabutter or extracting thc) will get you very high. unlike herb which requires some sort of extraction. He says that in the production of hash something happens to it which allows the cannabinoids to be absorbed into the blood.
so is there any truth to this or is my friend retarded?

Both actually, although I suggest mixing it in with a food compound, It will cause the body to go into "digestion" mode, and a higher percent of the good stuff will be absorbed, although it may take longer (not sure on this last part)
There is no real "production" to hash that would change it, All you do is grind your bud, separate the resin from the leaves ect., and then with pressure & heat, you form it into a cake.
If you're that lazy, make some firecrakers.

I don't believe anything different or special happens to the THC. However, I do think if your hash was potent enough you could eat it raw and get slightly high at a minmum, mind-numbingly fucked up at a maximum, depending on the quality of it, because hash has such a higher concentration of THC.

Watch this vijjyo, It 'splains how to make hash. I personally prefer oil, but that's for another pointless thread that can also be answered by a simple google search. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...02430655084102

you'd get high if you drank honey oil too. neither is a bright idea nor economical...
if your gonna eat it, at least cook it..

THC needs to be heated to be psychoactive. So yes, your friend is retarded.

Years and years ago we had a family dog that I loved. I was a very young child. The dog passed away. My father told me she had eaten some 'special cake' and died. I never really gave it much of a thought until years later when it came up. My father, the old rogue, had thrown some pot laced cake out and poor Matisse had taking upon herself to get very high. So high her soul left her body forever.

Could you explain this in better detail? I don't understand how a molecule needs to become 'activated' before it works. Maybe you mean there is some sort of heat-aided reaction that turns THC into something else, and this something else is what gets us high? If not, then how is THC changed with heat? Is there like, THC A and THC B or something? Whats the actual process going on?
Sorry, I've just seen you post this before without explaining it, and I've never found the information on my own.

Not necessarily.

I'm sure your body is programmed to digest unrefined hash as well as a slim jim.

Your dad's awesome. Rest in peace Matisse, what a desirable way to leave this world.

IIRC it's more the decarboxylation of other cannabinoids into THC ..
Still, you get much more bioavailability when dissolved in fat/alcohol etc .. I wonder if you could get some very 'hard' vegetable fat and cook it into that to make a 'brick' form of cannabutter ..

Re: eating hash flash mcscrabbledash

That.
THC needs to be heated to be psychoactive. So yes, your friend is retarded.
It can also be activated through alcohol or fat, but I'm sure you knew that ;)
THC is THC, regardless of the form it's in (weed or hash). It either needs to be smoked to be absorbed in the lungs, soaked in alcohol and drank, or cooked into a high in fat food product.
Eating it straight is a huge waste of money. Sure, it might get you high, but it's not economical at all. But hey, it's your money. If you want to run an experiment and waste some money, go ahead.
I wonder if you could get some very 'hard' vegetable fat and cook it into that to make a 'brick' form of cannabutter ..
Most cooking oils will work, as the majority of them are high in fat. A lot of people seem to think butter is the only way to cook weed, but like I said you can use a ton of different cooking oils to prepare any kind of ganja goodies you want :)
You can also use bacon grease, lard, vegetable shortening...use your imagination ;)

Re: eating hash flash mcscrabbledash
I'm almost certain that heat does not "activate" THC. I think it's more to do with breaking down the cell walls to allow the THC to actually be absorbed.
When you smoke it, the cell walls are broken, the THC and other cannabinoids can then be inhaled. When you heat it with a fatty substance, the THC dissolves into the fat which means your body can actually process it as it isn't stuck inside a cell. Same goes when you dissolve the THC in alcohol. A cell that has a big old cellulose wall, something which our bodys can break down but aren't too efficent at. Heat may "activate" it in the sense it makes it accesible to the body, but i highly doubt that the heat changes the THC in some way to make it more active.
