| Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more! |

Sega return to the hardware market
with the Sega Vision PMP.
but chill. it's hardly even a hand held. while basically most similar to the PSP, it's not intended to be a competitor. it's basically an ugly camera, with a builty in TV tuner; that can play games, and do tons of other shit.
while a bit of a throw off, I'm glad to see them back in some sort of form. baby steps, perhaps?

Re: Sega return to the hardware market
*Blows a load*
Fuckin' a, Sega always had great games and I was hoping they'd do another console of some sort, but I am hoping this is a lead up to a new system. Is there any info available about this yet or has it just been announced?

Re: Sega return to the hardware market
I hope that Nintendo and Sega kill off M$ and $ony so gamers can get back to the good times and make the above two jokes disappear like they should have originally.
The PS3 is a Computer/Video player passing itself off as a gaming console, the PSP is a ripoff of the GP2X and is just an n-gage with prettier pixels. The NDS shits on it and the PSP continuously plays catch up by stealing its ideas.
The XBOX is just Microsoft doing it's thing and dipping itself into another industry they feel owes them money for some reason.
Viva la Revolution!

Hey, it's not a home console, but it's better than nothing...
I hope they make a butt load on this, because it would suggest a new handheld/home game system.

Re: Sega return to the hardware market
It's not a Sega handheld. It's a shitty Chinese PMP with a Sega logo. They didn't design it, they're not making new and exciting games for it, and it will probably never amount to much of anything.
You'd be better off buying a Pandora and slapping a sticker on the lid.

Re: Sega return to the hardware market
If you buy this, punch yourself in the dick. SEGA is awesome, but they fucked up thrice (32x, Saturn, Dreamcast). It's not a "YOU GUYS DIDN'T LOVE IT SO IT DIED, YOU BASTARDS" thing, if you remember clearly, SEGA did a lot of dumb shit behind the scenes that doomed their post-Genesis (arguably post-SegaCD) days.
So why should they go without punishment and get back into making consoles, not just scot-free, but with a hero's fanfare? I mean shit, these people are struggling to be just a decent SOFTWARE DEVELOPER/PUBLISHER, and you want them to chance being a console maker again?
Y'know, maybe they SHOULD become a console maker again, then after the fourth epic fail, they will become bankrupt and sell all their IP to competent game companies. SEGA should have been taken out to pasture a LONG time ago, it's like a blind amputee dog with a failed liver and bladder. You can love it to pieces, but it's cruel to let something in that condition live so long.

You fail! Sega failed because gamers FAILED. And you're part of the failtrain.

Re: Sega return to the hardware market
I don't understand how the Dreamcast "failed"
Yeah, it had a short lifespan, but if it would have had DVD support, it probably would have lasted a little longer than it did.
But look at the GAMES!! Shenmu was full of win.
Crazy Taxi 1&2 were full of win.
PSO was pretty great
Just imagine if they could have been in the game for longer!!!
But yeah, I guess it really did fail in the end, but I would be first in line for their next home console if they ever make one
