its not a long island ice tea, but yes you can mix them together. I actually do enjoy whiskey with sweet tea. its damn delicious.
A long island is equal parts vodka, gin, tequila, rum and triple sec with 1 1/2 parts sour mix and a dash of cola. it is quite good.

You can mix whiskey with whatever you want.
To start off, mix yourself a fairly weak drink. If you like it, make it a bit stiffer.

The answer is "yes," but the real question is, "why?"

I always just mix whiskey with more whiskey. I've found that it gets me drunk faster if I do it this way.

Depending on the region, however, the tequila becomes optional. Around here, a Long Island with tequila is referred to as "Texas Tea."
And they can be tasty, certainly. Just make sure you have nothing else to do the next day. I've gotten into the habit of asking for either 7-Up or Diet (lack of caffeine vs. lack of sugar) to avoid the hangover the next day.

Long Island Ice Tea is indeed a killer. They're so damn tasty you can't help but drink a lot.
