A love letter I wrote
To a girl in my anthropology course. I couldn't give it to her though, too shy. If you people like it though, maybe I will.
Quote:

What is it about humans that lets us believe that we can estimate a personality simply by sight. Subtle expressions and sighs cannot reveal your true self. All wish and wonder cannot tell. My thoughts are not thoughts but dreams. This makes me a fool. Foolish of me, to think that a dream could lead to you, secret dreams not shared. All preconceived notions of future trysts will only blind me to that which I gaze upon. Yet, I am blind to the world so long as I am in your presence. Mute. Reduced to daydreams, and simple poetry. I fear this. I fear that if I were to hear you speak I would be unable to draw myself away. Chimes of youth, and romance. That which not even Mozart could express. Songs of passion sing to me of you, siren. I am in torturous confinement. How could I be so restrained, to sit quietly when all I wish is to sing that which flows from the fountain of my soul, letting the whole world know the joy of you.

I'm gonna start doing this with every girl I see now. I'll print up fliers with that on it and hand them out between classes.

You ought to use less full stops, it makes it sound a little blunt.

People have no respect for romance anymore. Bump for female perspective.

I agree.
All anything is anymore is sex.
Well... maybe that's what it always was, but still.

Re: A love letter I wrote
Your letter made you seem pompous. A letter like this will still make you the creepy guy who wrote the love letter, but is scared to talk to the girl. You are in a class with this girl, you need to talk to her and you need to ask her out before you become "just friends".
In todays age I think women respect a guy more who pursues them openly, than a "romantic guy" hiding behind a letter. Now I am not saying you can't do romantic things, but don't get crazy.

Re: A love letter I wrote
Ok, I'm a girl, and I found that creepy.
It sounds like Shakespeare, dum it down a little. Seriously, she's not a rocket scientist. You don't need pretty metaphors, cliches, and poetic lines to get a girl these days. It's just a simple, "Do you want to go out sometime." While that's hard to do in itself, I think giving her that note would put you through more hell.
Oh, abrupt stops. Enough. Said.

You freak.
You don't even know this girl. Your letter is the sort of thing you might give your gf when you're proposing after a long relationship. Not what you give to a complete stranger.
Guaranteed she's going to transfer out of that class if she reads that.

Re: A love letter I wrote
The sentiment is sweet, but the whole I've-been-watching-you vibe is creepy. If I were you I would find another way to start talking to her. If you're set on the note idea, try something short and sweet; a compliment and an invitation to get coffee/hang out/get to know each other or something easy. Starting a relationship with such flowery prose is putting a lot of pressure on her and it will freak her out.
However if by some happening you two do end up dating or something, save that poem and give it to her on an anniversary or something and tell her you wrote it about her way back when but were too shy to give it to you, and she'll totally melt.

Easy there, it's not like I'm obsessed or anything. This is just what I did today instead of paying attention in class.

Re: A love letter I wrote
SilverFuck is right
but for when you guys do get to know each other better;
I've had successful experiences with them in the past. so here are my tips:
1)They are meant to be tacky. You will be embarrassed and self-conscious writing it. put those feelings away for now
2) Don't heavily edited it, remove bits or dilute bits. THAT IS BAD. It removes the raw emotion and makes it seem like an English essay.
3) DESCRIBE HER AND WHAT YOU WANT TO DO *WITH* HER (not *TOO* her). This is Assuming you aren't into freaky shit like BDSM/Sadomasochism. People here will argue with me and say "don't mention your filthy desires" but it works.
4) Express your desire to be with her...and state your attractions. Women know what is attractive about them. Play to their vanity.
5.) mention things like feet, fingertips, necks, hips, lips smell, skin back and AND if you need a Thesaurus for a word DONT USE IT.
BTW I enjoyed what you wrote, but that probably because i "enjoy words for the sake of words"

It was completely spur of the moment, I hadn't even noticed the girl until today. I wrote it in the middle of class in between the professor talking about the end of the ice age and about how human technology increases carrying capacity. I just typed it up and posted it on here because I thought it was cool.

this. completly. i can just imagine her getting out her pepper spray.
seriously, from your class description it sounds like you should be old enough to just walk up to her and talk. there isnt anything wrong with beign a little shy, but come on. you dont want to come off as the loner freak sitting in the corner thinking up things youd want to "do with the girls". creppy rape/torture stuff.
all in all, good luck. hope things work out for you.
