don't say anything about yourself that you can't prove on your C.V. Otherwise you may as well put "I'm brilliant." as your profile.

Use jargon. Tailor each C.V. to the job. Always include a personalized cover letter. Include schooling, job experience, and skills. Never list or describe what the job was on your resume; the person reading it already knows or doesn't care, so you should let the job title speak for itself. Include timeframes for the jobs and schooling. If you volunteer somewhere, include that on your resume as well.

Your resume should be one to two pages. If you can keep it to one page, then do so.

At the top of your resume, always provide accurate and easy contact information.

Don't put your references on the resume. Include a note at the bottom that says "References available upon request".

What is the reason behind that?

It provides you with the option to tailor your references to the job.

In addition, the reference's name can't taint your resume.

You don't always know the opinions of who is interviewing you. Some industries have a high level of communication and you never know how people will react to a reference.
