Growing but plants too big?
Ok so here's the deal. I moved out not too long ago and I'm splitting a place with a buddy. I wanted to start growing weed on a very small scale but there's just one problem. The only place I really have to grow it in is my closet. Now this wouldn't be too much of a problem but the closet isn't too big of a space. I wanted to only have about a plant or two but after doing all the research it seems that most plants get to five feet tall if not more. My question is would there be any way to grow and keep the plants down to a maximum of say four feet and still yield decent results, or do all plants grow that big before I can harvest?

Plants get that high then start the major growing of bud.

I was going to suggest that, but from what he typed it appears he's already got clones/starting from seeds he's gotten. Some people(read as those living with mommy) can't exactly purchase marijuana seeds.

Re: Growing but plants too big?
Low Ryder is perfect. If you cannot get LR seeds, Indica strains usually grow low key and have fat buds. If anything look into SOG growing, you could probably fit a few plants in a closet.

Re: Growing but plants too big?
The majority of ppl who grow indoors grow plants <5ft. A closet is plenty of room for 4 plants and a 250W HPS. If you're going to do low ryder you might as well slit your throat. 4 ft max headroom is fine for growing good bud. No reason to do low ryder...

Re: Growing but plants too big?
Well I haven't gotten any clones or seeds for that matter so it sounds like I'll go for the lowryder or indica. What sort of yields would I expect from say 2 of these lowryder plants (realistically of course, I'm not in this for pounds of weed, just to learn more about weed cultivation and of course the satisfaction of smoking my own work)?
Also buying seeds online isn't a problem now that I don't have anyone checking my mail and my own cc, so do any of you guys have a experience that could recommend a reputable online source that sells seeds?

Re: Growing but plants too big?
I was just at the Ontario Seed Bank in Toronto yesterday and have to tell you the folks there are the best. The guy behind the counter was very patient, friendly and helpful with several folks that were there. One guy was asking the most basic, idiotic questions but the salesperson gladly explained and re-explained his answers. Personally, I would have smacked him and told him to return the seeds he'd just bought.
If you have the means, I suggest going there in person. Think of it as a "weed vacation" because marijuana is pretty close to legal in Ontario. While it is still technically illegal, the laws regarding possesion are in such a state of disarray that it's near impossible to prosecute.
Contact the OSB about their "Cannalope" strain. It's 8 weeks from germination to harvest. You start the flowering cycle while the plants are less than a foot tall, so this seems like it would fit your space requirements finishing off at around 3-4 feet. An average closet should hold 4 of these plants comfortably, with a yeild of 5-6 ounces per plant with a 400w HPS light. You can get the complete 400w HPS system on the 'bay right now for $119 plus $40 shipping, thats not bad.

I would go for more of these plants as they take up relatively little space only growing 20inch max with a maximum spread of about 12ins. Look out for the auto AK rather than lowryder 1 or 2 because you get a much higher yield and a much nicer smoke. Providing you do it right you can expect about 1oz in soil or up to 2oz if grown hydroponically (per plant). They also flower automatically and only take about 3 months from seed to harvest.
