Jalapeno's are not enough
So i am a spicy-hot fiend and for the past month or two I have become dissatisfied with jalapenos, they are simply not enough anymore. So I did a bit of research into chili peppers and came up with this list
http://ushotstuff.com/Heat.Scale.htm
Now I can understand scoville ratings but I am asking totse if they have any favorites. I am looking for something thats not going to be extremely difficult to find either.
thanks for any and all help.

Re: Jalapeno's are not enough
Chipotle and Serrano peppers are approximately twice as hot as jalapenos and shouldn't be too hard to find. At the worst you'll have to find a local Mexican grocer.
Also common yet even hotter are Habanero chile, cayenne, and tabasco peppers.

I wanted to try scotch bonnets but dont really know where to start looking. I work in the mexican area of where I live so I am going to hit up one of the grocers next time to check out the chili pepper selection. I will post my results.

Re: Jalapeno's are not enough
HabaƱeros are pretty good. Obviously you shouldn't use them as liberally as you would jalepenos, but in moderation, they can give a lot of heat to a bland dish. Be really, really careful with these ones though. You know how your mom told you not to touch your eyes after handling jalepenos? Yeah...
As for where to find specialty peppers: check ethnic stores (specialty Mexican stores), and also try farmers' markets. You live in SFO, and (afaik) there's a pretty good market there during the summer.

Birdseye is easy to get. They usually come dried, and will burn the fuck out of your mouth, eyes, etc. And, as a very important piece of information, WASH YOUR FUCKING HANDS BEFORE YOU TOUCH YOUR DICK/GO TO TOILET.
