Good O'l Dad
Today I went with my parents to the beach an we saw one of those loud music playing stores that sells mostly junk. Then my dad saw the sign that said "Salvia Divinorum Sold Here" and he just said that it would be awesome to try "...think about it the most intense 5min high youve ever had" my mom followed this up with "yeah I would love to try it to". I was shocked, my parents wanted to try it. However my dad who has a major in horticulture and is an advanced gardener said he wanted to grow it I now love him. He went on to say that he needs to find seeds still but he mentioned that salvia is an easy growing plant and would be easy to grow where we live. So now that my dad told me this he needs seeds for it. I still thinks its just awesome that he is up to try it because I wont get in trouble from doing it, hell its legal but i thought my mom would be so uptight about it and it turns out she isnt. So for my dad to start his own plants can anyone tell me where to get the seeds?
I can picture it just now.....
Some afternoon I'll be bored, go to the pile of dried slavia by the book shelf then walk into my backyard light up my bowl and just float away....

Re: Good O'l Dad
You can't easily grow it from seeds like the usual salvias. Tell your dad he needs a cutting.

Re: Good O'l Dad
You gotta get a cutting there's tons of sources online. Botanists rarely find salvia seeds and when they do they're almost never viable.

Yeah actually, I've heard salvia described as "an uncomfortable feeling as if you're rolling around in sweaty lego" and it's not far from the truth. Your mind will transcend space and time but you won't like it.

Re: Good O'l Dad
your dad can't be a great gardener if he thinks salvia is an easy growing plant that comes from seeds...

Re: Good O'l Dad
I's real easy to grow. I once knocked over my plant and broke its main stem right in half. i just put some rooting hormone on it and stuck it back in the ground, doing fine now.
Also, the high, would rightly be described as horrific. You have to do it 5 or so times before it stops being scary.

Re: Good O'l Dad
Not that I'm trying to burst your bubble but you won't just "float away".
Actually what's likely to happen is: You grab some salvia and walk out to the backyard. You'll spark it up and begin sweating. The 5 seconds after you took the hit will begin to repeat over and over as you sit bewildered, scared and extremely hot. You'll try to speak but you won't be able to. There will be an extremely uncomfortable sensation rushing through you that can only be described as painful vibes of negativity sent forth from Lady D herself to punish you for not taking her sacred plant seriously. Soon after you'll begin to come down. You'll feel burnt and confused for 20+ minutes and probably never do it again.
That's not to say that this plant is useless. In fact I believe the opposite. Once you've broken through it's a very enlightening and ego shattering experience that'll ultimately benefit you. Thing is most people that try and use it recreationally get more than they've bargained for and put it down for good scoffing it off as something worthless and uncomfortable.

This.
And whoever said it feels like rolling around in sweaty lego, LOL, yes, true too :)
I'm sure I could appreciate it after breaking through, but I've done it enough, haven't broken through, and don't like the uncomfortable sweating and mental effects.
I'm just going to tincture'ize what I've got.

"an uncomfortable feeling as if you're rolling around in sweaty lego"
Holy shit. Bang on.
Except i'd go with more deathly then uncomfortable.
..Deathly.
This is obviously in reference to the experience of a "bad trip"- so to say. Having never had a "good trip"- i wouldn't know of this "high" you speak of.
Sorrie- the quotes seemed pretty necessary :)

Re: Good O'l Dad
Actual conversation from my grandpa.
"I heard about this plant called Salvia. It's legal and It's supposed to be stronger than marijuana! Come to think of it I've never tried marijuana." Looks at my dad. "Have you ever tried marijuana??"
...the longest silence ever and i was in the other room listening...
"no."

Re: Good O'l Dad
salvia is not that much fun...
it will rip reality away like its nothing but your probably not going to enjoy the ride too much...
although i did have a friend who the moment after he came down enough to speak coherently he said "what the fuck? that was awesome"

my parents know that i smoke, i think they have just stopped caring for the most part, i am waiting for the "what other drugs have you tried?" question....
i hope to one day trip on mushrooms with my dad... he seems to have an interest in them after seeing this article about how they gave some people mushrooms and they considered it to be one of the best experiences of their life and a life changing experience. he only seems worried about getting poisonous ones, but finding good shrooms is not very hard in my area. brought up lsd to him and he seems adverse to it...
i am pretty sure the man has done some things, we were talking about a big bust of over 9000 plants in the woods in my state and the estimated value in the millions... and i brought up the "well only about half of them would be female so the value might as well be cut in half" and he said "with a good grower the males could identified and killed off early".... not alot of people would know this sort of thing unless they were close to someone who grew or even grew it themselves....
