so im a 19 year old male living in colorado, completely self sufficient (not claimed as dependent by "parents"), and just filed for an education and personal grant online. the dude filing my information told me i qualified for 60,000 for education and something like 20,000+ for personal (rent,food,etc..) everyone ive talked to about the grants said that i qualify and will definitely get that money with no problems. and one of the people i talked to about it as gotten grants for education and personal before, and shes 40 something years old.


my question is, has anyone here ever sucessfully obtained a government grant for anything? has anyone been turned down for a grant? How long does it take for you to receive the money? do they send checks or just transfer it into your bank account?

I've recently been searching for some grants so that I can travel/do research (see my girlfriend that lives far away) Where'd you find your grants? I really could use one. I would be perfectly happy with $1,000

dude, www.grants.gov/ , fill out the info (youll be applying for a personal which you could just say is for rent or something of the sort) and youll be contacted in about 2 days. there are tons upon tons of things you can get grants for. i mean comeon, giving a 19 y/o over 25000 with the option of getting more than 80000? people dont realize all the bullshit reasons you can get free money out of our bullshit government.
and you can get 5000 at least. the dude sounded surprised when i only asked for 2000 personal. when i changed it to 5g he still said i could get 10g on the personal no sweat.

FYI if you tell them you want a grant ot see your girlfriend they will deny you. say it is for rent/food/supplies etc.

I plan on using the money to research across the country and then for schooling. This is the best way to do it, since I can't hold down a job. (I'm not a shitty worker, I've just been replaced... twice. by an immigrant and then by someone older)

choose personal grant. unless you want to do education but i think there are certain restraints on the education money. im sure they do make sure you are going to school and paying bills and what not. but if you get food or something with the money i dont think theyll be tracking you down or anything. go with personal i'd say. just follow the directions and expect a call.

Did you read what the fine print said? It said that if you don't qualify for a loan then they will refund your money. Everybody qualifies, I don't know how many actually receive it. Still it would be interesting to find out, keep us updated.

i definitely applied (what i heard from someone who has gotten grants before as well as from the consultant) and i hear the money comes fast as a mother fucker.

so to answer your question im about 80% sure im getting the cash in the next 2 weeks.
