But I think your speakers and the acoustics of the room affect it as well.

Lately I've been listing to music with the highest volume possible. Guess it's time to be more careful or I'll end up deaf :- P

Re: How high of a frequency can you hear??
Nobody is supposed to be able to hear it at 22. Are you hearing a whiney tone or a pulse kind of sound? The pulse sound is not the tone. And if you think your speakers can't play above 16, they probably can you just can't hear it. Read the little FAQ about the test.

Re: How high of a frequency can you hear??
I can't hear it till 15k. Good thing I'll be alive for the medical care from the future, maybe they can get me some really good hearing aid that lets me hear beyond they original spectrum. .
Edit: I'm 16 years old and been to 3 concerts...it must be the volume alteration I do on Itunes before I put the songs on my ipod. I alter the volume to be +100% the normal volume.

Weird.

Hardly weird.. its called hearing damage.
I heard it from just after he said 18kHz
I wouldnt say this is accurate in anyway though. Your results are going to vary a lot due to sound cards and speakers etc.
Oh and whats the frequency that some TVs make thats really annoying? I can hear it but hardly anyone else can.

Re: How high of a frequency can you hear??
44.1kHz sampling frequecy is not adequate to represent a 22kHz signal. It is also not adequate to represent the signal considering speakers have a usable range of 20 to 16k, generally.
I can barely hear the 22k, but I can hear a flyback transformer (the sound a TV makes) operating at 30k.

That's because it gets louder as your ears become more sensitive.
And I've already pointed ut the sound a TV makes is between 20k and 30k.
