Is it better to just eat kratom?
So I've found a lot of contradicting information regarding kratom. Is the active ingrediant water soluable or not? And is it destroyed by heat?
I made tea with 10 grams yesterday and got an ok buzz
Today I made tea with 20 grams but a lower grade of kratom. Felt about the same as yesterday, I just finished parachiting the rest of the oz and it's kicking in way more now..
I feel like I kinda wasted it making tea.
Is it better just to eat it?

Re: Is it better to just eat kratom?
I only eat it, fuck all that tea stuff it tastes god-awful and eating it is so much more efficient.
Same goes for ground poppy pod. If you're not getting any more involved than a simple tea; eating for the win.
The same does not apply for tinctures or extractions of any sort, though in most cases you will be orally consuming the product. Hmm, 190 proof kratom extract enema anyone?

Kratom isn't that great either way...more of a potentiator than anything IMO. I think eating it is far more effective though.

Re: Is it better to just eat kratom?
First and for most: you have really shitty Kratom.
Kratom is good, but it does matter, significantly, where you get it from.
Making a tea, and having it stand for some time, prior to filtering out the particles is the best option.
I, myself, quite enjoy the earthy taste of kratom tea.
I find that it is significantly better to filter the fine powdered insoluble "tea" matter.
But understand: Kratom, is not analogous to "opiates". Its not something that reinforces "stinginess"(for the lack of a better word) in its use.
Its about the Quality.
If you are looking for an opiate high, you will be sorely disappointed.
But if you approach the herb, without prejudice expectations of its action, it is quite respectable.
Dont bitch because it doesn't feel like an opiate, its a novel and deserving herb, entirely on its own.
It is true Malaysian and Bali are the types which feel the most Opiate-ish, but other types are also quite desirable in my opinion.
Yes, kratom is a "bad drug", but it is a "good tea" with novel side effects.
And with average kratom it should not take more then ~6 gram to achieve desirable effects. Taking more, will not make the buzz stronger, but just get you sick.
You are doing this for a cheep buzz, and kratom is a bad candidate for this opinion.
But at least, give good quality kratom a try, before you formulate your opinion on the substance.

Re: Is it better to just eat kratom?
1. Put powdered kratom into hot water
2. Thoroughly mix by stirring.
3. Pour an equilavalent size cup of orange juice
4. Take long sip from kratomy water shit
5. Take Chaser of orange juice
6. Repeat steps 4-5, and if necessary repeat entire process.

Thought for sure this thread would be asking about smoking it.
I'm still waiting for the inevitable laughs resulting from the first desperate junkie attempting to IV a tincture or something.

How I do it is just put some water, or whatever drink in your mouth. Tilt head back dont swallow your drink, pour in the kratom, and swallow fast and take a few drinks along with that. Wont taist it at all.

Re: Is it better to just eat kratom?
TrueBudSmoker:
Yes kratom is soluble in water. If making tea take your time, do two strains, and simmer it as opposed to a heavy boil. Something acidic may be added for flavor and may aid the process. Also some add a minute amount of alcohol to aid the extraction as well. -Frankly I've found plain ol' water do just as good/sufficient a job.
In terms of what method of preparation is the best, it's all a matter of personal preference.
There are however some marked differences that come with each method, for instance:
Tea method will have a quicker and harder onset due to the alkaloids being pre-extracted. The tea method is also ideal for the heavy users that needs to consume large amounts of kratom to get an effect. -Thus the tea method is ideal as opposed to swallowing handfuls of powders which could easily result in unwanted nausea.
T&W method is good for those that don't want to waste time with the long process of making tea. It's quick and just as effective. It also has less taste factor for those that already may hate the taste of kratom. However getting down an effective toss and wash method may take some time to achieve. Many are likely to gag at their first attempt.

It's already been attempted. Several individuals on other forums have experimented with IV'ing pure isolates.
And if you ask me isolates are nonsensical and will only lead to attaining a crazy tolerance at an extremley fast rate. Not to mention it puts a wonderful plant, with many beneficial uses other than just geting high at risk of becoming scheduled.

Re: Is it better to just eat kratom?
I'll revise my earlier statement and say cap the powder.
00 gel caps hold about 600 milligrams each, a standard capper does 50 pills at a time. 30 grams in capsules gets one high around 5 times. It takes about half an hour of preparation, but saves lots of time and gagging in the end. Plus, there's no risk of inhaling the powder while spooning and chasing with water. I put about a 5 gram tablespoon in my mouth once and as I opened up to chase it down with water I inhaled that shit. Choked so hard I thought I was gonna pass out...wasted 5 g's of Kraw too.

I have some good quality kratom. I took the shittiest one first and I'm working my way up.
I also got a free sample, the 10gs I made from the free sample equaled 20gs of the lowest quality kratom in my opinion. I still have 2 oz of the so called (good quality) kratom, so I guess I'll see how that is. Not today though.
The kratom I used yesterday was Indonesian... is Indonesian kratom known for being shitty?
And someone that weighs 200 pounds is obviously going to need more to get the same effects as someone who weighs 150 pounds.. You don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

Thanks for the answer. It would appear Kratom is soluble in water, but on wikipedia it says "physically the freebase is a white, amorphous powder. It is soluble in alcohol, chloroform and acetic acid."
I'll add some lime juice next time, but when I did it with just water I still got high.. I don't understand how that works if it really is insoluble in water.

Then answer this. Why is it that when you buy some extracts it comes dissolved in alcohol, not water?
Do you just assume it soluble in water because that's what everyone thinks?

I assume it's soluble in water because it is soluble in water otherwise it wouldn't produce any effects now would it?
It could also be soluble in alcohol, maybe slightly more soluble, but for convenience reasons most people use water instead of wasting good vodka on a mediocre plant that barely produces recreational effects.

I drank the tea... and left the powder in there and drank the remaining sludge... it worked very well.
submerging it in any kind of water is going to make it easier to swallow.

Or maybe the reason they put it in alcohol is because the alcohol produces ALL the effects.
hmmmm??
Why don't you go waste $50 on kratom and then get drunk off the vodka you dissolve it in and pretend it has a higher solubility in alcohol because of the "increased effects".
at least when you dissolve it in water you know when its effecting you and to what degree.

Here's something you should know kiddy.
Only some of the alkaloids are decently soluble in alcohol while others are only soluble in water.
So that "full spectrum" tincture is pure bullshit, but it sounds perfect for you go pay $50 for the equivalent of 2 resin pies($11) and prove me wrong.

I simply said you don't find kratom extracts coming dissolved in water. So extract kratoms active ingrediants, common sense tell me you don't just use water.
It seems to me your trying to tell me that extract isn't that cost effective.. but did I even dispute that?
You are trying to argue with me about something completely irrelevant to this discussion, thats why I think you are retarded.

Re: Is it better to just eat kratom?
Maeng Da Thai is the most potent strain I've ever tried. I highly recommend it. A few grams gets you buzzin' pretty strong.
I'll probably get flamed for saying this - but I think I prefer kratom to opiates (sans oxycodone). Opiates are too sedating; I enjoy the subtle energy-lift of kratom. Not only that, but I don't find most opiates (and -oids if you want to be a SOB about it) terribly euphoric.

Re: Is it better to just eat kratom?
I took 20 grams of kratom in basically one long disgusting powdery chug from a failed attempt at making tea.
While I choked it all down and fought the nausea, I definitely felt a vicodin-ish like high.
I did this on a totally starved and empty stomache, with only water ingested for 24 hours before hand to control my heartburn.
I mixed 10 grams of Bali and 10 grams of I think it was Thai... I dunno, it was that 20 gram give-away kratom king did a while ago.

Re: Is it better to just eat kratom?
I tried parachuting kratom, I had like a gram of 15x extract and swallowed it all.
Didn't do yak shit.
Tried microwaving it, at first it exploded leaving my microwave coated with a yukkie kratom coating and me with this face that exact face, exactly like that.
Then I tried microwaving it again a bit carefullererer. And I didn't feel yak shit.
Then I remembered I had left a small amount (maybe like 0.5g) of kratom in some vodka n coke for like 20mins.
Drank that, and felt guuud.
Unfortunately I had wasted all my other kratom on failed attempts so...50$ completely wasted.
Fuck this shit, and there's no weed in my town either.

Personally I prefer to add the powder into a thick smoothy. The powder is suspended and goes down well. If you add it to OJ, the kratom sinks to the bottom. Here is an information site with several methods: http://kratom-world.com/

Re: Is it better to just eat kratom?
dont make tea, it's ineffective, i've never tried to make it but i have heard from numerous people on the internetz that it is... just buy the powder (go with the bali, it's the cheapest yet gets me higher than most of the expensive shit) put some on a spoon, dump it in your mouth, dump water in your mouth, swish violently, then swallow.... i usually take 14 grams to get a good feeling going.
