Default Follow up call after application.

So I put in an application at Office Depot about a week ago for their "Now Hiring Position" and haven't heard anything since. The sign is still up, so I decided to try and call and talk to who does the hiring. Well I called this morning and the faggot darren who answered the phone told me the manager would call me. He said I can't do a follow up call until the manager calls me, what the fuck is that shit? I seriously doubt the manager has time or even cares enough to call everyone who applies for the position. Should I call again tommorow and tell darren to fuck off and let me speak to the manager?

No. Darren maybe important. And there's no need to make enemies at a place you haven't even started working at. That's best left until after you get the job.

Just go down to the store if you can and find out when the manager is in. Then come back when he is and talk to him or optionally call then.

Thumbs up Re: Follow up call after application.

Nonono. What you do is wait 2 weeks since you last gave in your application and do it again. This shows that you REALLY want to work there.

Besides, all places I worked at hated applicants doing follow up calls. The managers will call you if they need you, but all you can do is the above^.

Another thing you can do is casually drop in as a customer. Buy stupid shit like a few pens and pencils. At the checkout counter, ask to see the manager and just casually inquire about "I see you guys are hiring. The thing is... I dropped off my resume ____ weeks/days/hours ago. I was just curious if you gais had started to go through them yet or not..." Make sure your shopping bag and reciept is in hand and visible to the manager all this time so it doesn't seem like you JUST came in to ask them this.

you call ask to speak to the manager or hiring manager. or ask to speak with someone form personnel.

when they pick up ask them how they're doing, (sucking up is crucial)

tell them your name, when you applied, and ask them if they have looked at your application. tell them how you are very interested in working for their company.

remember to be very polite.

i've gotten many interviews this way

hope it helps.
