Whole "FIELD" of morning glories
Well, at the back of our house on a slope, where a part of it is a vegetable garden, we had always been annoyed by all these 'weeds' .. but I just realised that they are indeed all morning glories, a whole area of em about 200ft*30ft wide ...
Just checked up on them now and theres lots of the nice flowers around, and some of them starting to retreat, while some still coming out into flower ..
Anyone know what the seed pods look like / when to harvest for best 'yield' and the approximate date?

Start building a massive ghetto chromatography column. Practice bucket chemistry. Literally.

Re: Whole "FIELD" of morning glories
As with any other plant: where the flower was: there will be the seed. Where else did you think it would be?

I know that, what I was asking is the physical appearance of them compared to just flowers that haven't got into bloom or have just gone out ..
Also, on erowid etc I see a lot of the blue varieties, but these are white morning glories, does this affect the LSA quantity?
ETA:these seem to be the 'pearly gates' variety so looks fine ..

There is often still a wilted, dried flower covering the seed. There's an obvious difference between a flower bud & a seed. Have you got right in & looked? I know (are you truly in Sco'land?) you get the Gulf Stream keeping you warm up there, but isn't the growing season over now? Unless you're an apple/cabbage/squash?

Yep I'm in Scotland growing season is pretty much over for most stuff here, still some stuff growing though ..
Yep I've got right in and looked, it's a whole mixture of various stages of flower, some are in full bloom, some in the buds still, some starting to wilt .. so I think it'll be at least a week or two until I can get some seeds?

Re: Whole "FIELD" of morning glories
Are you sure that they are MG's & not the related Bindweed? Eg: are they other than white? Any chance of the pics?

Can't get pics right now
But they are all white, sort of funnel shaped almost, white stamen(think that's what they are, the bits inside the flower), with heart-shaped leaves etc ...
I'm not quite sure how to separate them from bindweed, think they're pretty much the same thing?

Re: Whole "FIELD" of morning glories
The flowers of MG tend to be much larger than that of their cousin Bindweed.

Re: Whole "FIELD" of morning glories
Wow, you guys are actually willing to pay for that? I have so much taking over my yard I just toss most of them. Every year I usually end up with a 5gal bucked full of seeds, without even trying.

Re: Whole "FIELD" of morning glories
The morning glory flowers (note spelling) last about 4 days.
Like
The first day they are a spiraly pointed green flower.
The second day they change to white with a green base
The third day they open up & display their colourfull flower.
The forth day they are wrinkled & wilted. Also if you touch the flower it will wilt almost immediately.
Then the flower falls off & leaves the green base to it, inside this is where the seeds are, little rock hard chunks.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morning_glory
So to get the seeds you will have to do it every second day or such.
Lovely flowers though...

Re: Whole "FIELD" of morning glories
I didn't read anything and don't care to.
Congrats, that must have been a beautiful sight and feeling having stumbled upon a field of psychoactives.
I say you harvest all the seeds and get some a large collection of liquid LSA in as many form as you can conceive.

Re: Whole "FIELD" of morning glories
Well had another good look at them today, and there is quite a few 'pods' that have shrivelled up, opening them I see what looks to be the start of seeds, brown sort of circle around the bottom of the flower .. there's a few dried out ones too and opened them up but there's not really any seeds in there, just a single black bit sticking up ...
