When you Americans say "Shakes" do you mean milkshakes or just like soft drink type? (Like Coke or Fanta.)

Milkshake.

Usually soft drinks are limited to Soda, Pop or Coke, depending on the region.

I personally call generic soft drinks Soda. A bit north of me is Pop, and Coke (for general soda) is usually just Texas.

Lol? Do you mean all softdrink is called coke in Texas? Like Fanta is called a type of Coke?

Yeah, like a conversation at a restaurant might go like this:

"I'll take a coke"
"What type?"
"Mountain Dew" (or insert any other soda in here)

It's all called coke to them.

Bit strange but each to there own I suppose. Thanks for clearing that up for me it was jsut bugging me for ages whenever i watch films and stuff.
