Default Computer Monitor Problem

My computer monitor flicks on and off for five minutes, displaying no image whatsoever then after say, five minutes, it's on, working fine and everything.

What the hell is wrong with it?

It's a Samsung 711MP, if that helps. It's not the computers output to the monitor that's the problem, but actually seems like the power, but what I can't get at is why it flicks on and off for five then works perfectly.

I had the same thing happen to my last monitor (would work for a while, then make a click, then display nothing). Eventually, something really bad happened, and it stopped working for good. I had to buy another monitor.

When it turns off, get a torch and see if there's still a dark image.

If there is, it's the backlight or inverter at fault. If not, you've got bigger problems.

This is why I'm wary of getting a good monitor, for me they always fuck up. I'll look around and see if I can pick up a cheap monitor off gumtree or something.

^ This thread sparked my interest for a few minutes about monitors, so I went to newegg to see what they have. They have like THREE FUCKING CRTS!!! The rest are obviously lcds, which is bullshit. Fuck everyone and their lcds...cheap bastards

Also, I bought my Samsung 955DF like 4 yrs ago, and its still working perfect. Obviously, its not available on newegg anymore.

Thumbs up Re: Computer Monitor Problem

I found a FPD1830 Gateway monitor at a HAMfest and bought it for $10. The only thing wrong with it was 4 capacitors on the inverter board, so I replaced the capacitors. I put it back together, and voilĂ , I got a 18.1 inch LCD monitor for $10.

Imo, you might want to start looking for a new monitor.

The monitor doesn't even switch on now. I'm posting this from a laptop.

depending on what monitor it is , depends on how it projects the image , some use tubes taht heat and this could explain any noises like bangs or clicks prior to the moitor failing , best option is replace the full thing u cant raeally fix them for as cheap u can buy new ones

Google the model number - it's an LCD, so there's no tube there...
