Health benefits of blood?
Is there much health value in blood? In short, would a medium rare steak be better for your body than a well done?

Re: Health benefits of blood?
its not blood you think? wtf are you talking about? And Im not sure about the health benefits of blood, but in my OPINION (which means dont take it as fact) only an idiot orders a well done steak. The only thing Ill ever order well done would be blacked tuna but only if its going on a sandwhich, which I prefer a dryer taste, other than that as rare asI can get son!

This is not what I was expecting when I first read the title. I am a bit disappointed.

Re: Health benefits of blood?
cooking a lot doesnt reduce the blood. the blood just solidifies. though i think blood would be higher in fat than meat, and would have impurities that would normally get filtered by the kidneys

Re: Health benefits of blood?
The red stuff does contain some blood, but my understanding is that it's more protein-infused water (insert juvenile semen joke here) than anything else.
Insofar as health benefits? I know blood is supposedly a substance that irritates the stomach, so keep that in mind. Beyond that, I can't imagine it providing much more nutritional value than anything else. It'd probably be high in iron, but there are other ways to get your iron content up if you're deficient for some reason.

there is health value in rare/medium rare meat, more or less depending on the cut. different cuts have different quality protien. the more you cook it the more the protien denatures.

Re: Health benefits of blood?
The level of denaturation during cooking doesn't matter once it's in your stomach. The digestive system breaks all the proteins down to short indistinguishable peptides anyways.
No health value whatsoever.

Re: Health benefits of blood?
Jessie Camacho from the reality tv series "Survivor: Africa" spoke about her blood drinking for an Entertainment Tonight interview. The water was so repulsive that they turned to drinking blood. She said that they knew the Masai drank blood for protein, so they thought the challenge would either be eating bugs or drinking the blood. Of course, she set her mind to think that it would taste the worst, even worse than the water. When she actually chugged it down and took a taste of it, she says, "It wasn't that bad! It was actually good! It was better than the water, I'll tell you that!"
...I got that from some site. I guess it has a fair amount of protein, although I guess this thread isn't really dealing with much blood, anyways : /
