Drying weed fast (yeah... I know!)
Ok so my girlfriend has 4 giant weed plants, the weed is great, we trimmed a wee bud and dried it properly and it was great pot! I think that she will be getting around a pound or maybe a bit more.
So, her sister had an old food dehydrator that was laying around from when she smoked pot. She swore for its effectiveness for drying small amounts of bud at a time. I told her all about how weed HAS to dry, dark, cool, closets.
She took it out and we snapped off one of the branches that had torn itself to the ground. (HUGE buds) We brought it all inside and trimmed off all the leaves, then tossed the slightly chopped branch into the dehydrator and left it for 20 minutes, while turn the buds every few minutes.
They came out LOOKING and SMELLING great.
I had to leave immediately after this, but she attests to it making sopping wet buds dry and compact fast. It also tastes great and gets her just as high as it should.
Now, would it be a wise idea to use this machine to dry say... an ounce or so to tide her over until it is all cropped and dried properly.
Thanks BLTC, I just don't understand how this dehydrator can work so well... why doesnt everyone do this?

Re: Drying weed fast (yeah... I know!)
I've dried weed fresh off the plant in a microwave before. Didn't smoke any myself, but nobody that did smoke it complained, so it all worked out. I could see a dehydrator working fine.

Fucking idiots and their lack of self control. Dry it and cure it properly for at least a month.
If it dries too fast the chlorophyll gets locked in making shitty tasting and harsh burning weed. The whole curing process is to get rid of the nasty chlorophyll and bring out the full flavor and smell of the plant.

I only did it once, and I only sold it to these faggot kids at my school a few years ago. It was actually their own stolen plants that I microwaved and sold back to them a few days later. I was just a fucking kidiot anyway.

Ive just bought large square hepa filters (the kind for HVAC systems) and stacked a few onto the front of a box fan. It works great, and it's a cool method.

That's truth right there. You get what you put in. Show the plant some love!

Re: Drying weed fast (yeah... I know!)
Ok so I just wrote a huge response and deleted it somehow.
Here is the jist of it.
I NEVER put fresh buds in the dehydrator... the buds I used had been drying for 4+ days. they looked like buds you would buy from a good dealer, just very damp.
I am going to be smoking some of it today and I am a connoisseur when it comes to weed, so if there is something funky with it, I will know right away.
*side question*
Drying mushrooms in a food dehydrator would work fine right? I plan to move out of my mothers house within the month and start growing shrooms immediately...
would 20 minutes in a food dehydrator do anything to my mushrooms that I wouldnt want it to?

Re: Drying weed fast (yeah... I know!)
I wouldnt dry shrooms with any kind of prolonged heat. Your best bet is to air dry, I either use the box fan method, and then put them in a box with some dried ammonium nitrate (from instant ice packs).
