Default Dual Graphics Card Feasibility

Whatsup everyone, so my buddy just bought a bunch of new hardware for his computer so I was thinking of throwing some of his old stuff into my computer. So he's taking out an ATI Radeon X800 (yeah i know, it isn't that good) and currently I've got a Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra, Asus A8V Deluxe Motherboard and an AMD 3500+ 64bit processor. I'm not that tech savvy, so my apologies if I haven't included enough information. My question is, am I able to run both graphics card, will I see an improvement, and how do I go about doing it?

Thanks

you can, but not in sli, so no preformance increase. and i wouldnt reccomend running an ati and nvidia for even dual monitors because they tend to fight with each other

Agreed, you can only SLI same make/model, and make sure it has the same GPU also.

yeah, I think Im due for an upgrade here none the less. I've only got one gig of ram and an outdated vid card. What do you guys think of the mobo/chipset though? I want to be able to play warhammer mmo smoothly w/ decent graphics.

I reckon if you upgrade your video card to at least a high-end Nvidia 8 or 9 series (or ATI equivalent) and put in another gig of RAM you should run Warhammer pretty smooth.

When I only had one of my 9800 GTX's in it ran great.

On the other hand, my friend runs it just fine on a Dell, which has an integrated graphics card..

I would also say 8 or 9 series NVidia, and ofcourse make sure you internet connected is decent. (aka no torrents etc..)

My friend ran warhammer fine on a dells integrated graphics card just fine.

I used a 9800GTX though.

I would also recommend an 8 or 9 series card from nvidia also.

Yeah I want to run more than just warhammer, just so that i can play some newer released games. I think my processor is okay, but should a gig extra of ram and a higher end 9series be alright?
