why cant anyone answer this?
ive been iv'ing opiates for a while now and have always done it as originally shown with the angled point of the syringe (the hole, or oculus i think its called) pointing down facing my skin. someone just said the other way around. so tell me with a needle which way so the needles angled tip hole be facing when injecting. towards the skin or away from it

anyway, your friend is wrong and youre right. the sharpest point should be the first the touch your skin, so it should be facing down and not up. i also dont think its called oculus, as thats latin for eye and dont see any relation.

im just saying who knows that "oculus" is latin for eye but has never heard of "eye of a needle"? I mean you learned to write before you could read.

Re: why cant anyone answer this?
The opening is called the "bevel", not the oculus. You ALWAYS have it facing UP. This is so that the bevel will not go flat up against the vein wall.

Re: why cant anyone answer this?
Point it towards your heart, always, angled 45 degree's, though I've seen some people lay it flat against their skin and inject it that way.

Latin and Latin based words are not very uncommon at all, so I know quite a few words, as I'd assume most would. Fuck, I just remembered my username is Latin, haha. If you know anything about cameras you probably know what it means (and of course camera is also a Latin word).

Re: why cant anyone answer this?
Facing up away from the skin is the way I always go. Though I imagine in the end both ways would get you in the vein. The correct answer though would be vilbe's, if he gives it here.

Re: why cant anyone answer this?
When donating blood, they've always put it in so the open side's up. It makes sense 'cause the very sharp part is the first to pierce. I'd assume it's the same as injecting something, no?

thats actually the sentiment i try to avoid...
but, to be honest i haven't the slightest clue. i probally woulda had an opinion on it back in junk times but eh, things change. although granted those who run blood donations play with needles as much as junkies, they don't always do it right either...
i'd say trust the "professionals."
