Re: Trying to use media server on PS3
I think you need to be working through a router but i'm not familiar with your set up. If you do want to give it a go then you have three options:
1) Give up. Now. It's far too much effort for something that only partially works, just use a memory stick.
2) Use the media server option in Windows Media Player 11. HERE is a link that might help.
3) Install linux. Then follow THIS thread. This is the only way i've gotten it to work so far.
Hope that helps.

Re: Trying to use media server on PS3
It's not that difficult at all. Put the files you want to view in the designated "My Videos" "My Muisc" My Pictures" Not ones you created, but rather the ones already created and came with Windows. Then open Windows Media Player and turn on file sharing.
Or you could use Winamp. That's what I used to do, it has a nice stream to console feature.
I'm pretty sure VLC player has a nice streaming option, although I sold my PS3 after I downloaded VLC. My new PS3 should be in the mail any day now, so I can confirm that then.
Or as stated before you could just put the files onto a portable hard drive, or usb stick.

You're using your computer to hook your PS3 wirelessly? It already has wireless.
Could you draw a picture for us?
