Default Is "The Game" worth reading?

Is this book an enjoyable read, like Tucker Max's "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell"?

Or is more like a book of pickup lines...

It's an indtroduction to the pickup "sub-culture", which just recently moved into the mainstream - pretty much via this book. Yes, it's worth the read, if you're interested in the sub-culture of the actual "science" of picking up women.

There's no reason to even casually browse through this book, if you aren't socially retarded.

Unless you consider the vast majority of males (ie. around 90-95% at any given bar, party, etc.) to be social retarded, that's not true. Simply put: Unless you can walk into any given social situation, make yourself the life of the party, and pick up most of the girls you want, then you could benefit from that book.

There are better books than that one though, as The Game is more of a novel than a textbook. I personally like Mystery's book, How to Date Beautiful Women, or something like that. I'm sure some social psychology textbooks would be useful as well, and they would probably eliminate most of the fluff.

OP: Don't be deterred by Euda's attitude. There's no shame in working on social skills, and based on Euda's attitude, I would bet money that he easily falls into the "average frustrated chump" category (and will probably remain there, as will the vast majority of males).

If you are looking for a Tucker Max feel, you're gonna be disappointed. Euda clearly hasn't read it, otherwise he'd know it isn't primarily a PUA methods book. It's a biography of the guy's time in the PUA community, which is interesting, but it isn't like a Tucker Max accounting. There are examples of PUA methods, but it is primarily an introspective look into the community the kind of people it attracts and why, their methods, and what he did while in there. If you are looking for tips, don't bother with it, bit torrent or google the methods.

It's true, I've never even glanced at the thing. I guess that it's self-help, but I don't have a positive view of the people that want to become a PUA.

Der, I think most guys are simply afraid of uncertainty.

I don't see any problem with reading it. I mean, it's just a book and it's kind of entertaining in parts. Just don't start going into clubs wearing a buttoned-down Hawaiian shirt spouting insults at everybody or I'll have to track you down and kick you in the nuts.

You can attract girls (and people in general) based on how you present yourself and the way you make them feel. Why settle for the 1 out of 10 girls that might be attracted to you when you're doing nothing, when you can make 8 out of 10 girls attracted to you with some effort?

When Joe Schmoe takes a shower, puts on a nice shirt, and combs his hair, he's essentially doing the same thing as an aspiring "PUA"...just to a much less effective extent. At its core, the whole pick-up thing is just about presenting yourself in an attractive way, and subsequently getting a girl interested in you. Granted, a lot of people that aspire to be "pickup artists"just memorize openers and negs and such (so I see where you might be coming from)...but the mature ones, they are basically just really confident people that know how to get interesting conversations going, and know the mechanics of a social interactions like the back of their hand. Nothing wrong with that...

Besides, a lot of these PU books discuss the workings of female psychology. Since a lot of things about females in regard to sex and relationships aren't intuitive to males, there's no point in reinventing the wheel.

No. Unless you want to start talking like this:

"Naww man, you just weren't sarging the sets and AMOGING the AFC's to get past the shit test and then making kino escalation while negging the target to get IOI's from them.
If did all this while you were peacocking and being cocky and funny then maybe you have one-itis, because a woman's NLP obviously says if you do all of this then you'll at least get a kiss close."

If you want to improve your pick-up skills, or if you have no idea what's going on at all, I recommend you check out David DeAngelo's stuff. What he explains in his book is the basic psychology behind things. He just reminds you that it's all about having fun and being yourself, and not acting like a robot and treating it like rocket science.

Haha. A lot of guys get so caught up with the lingo and theory that they don't realize they're standing around looking like a bunch of creeps.

I dunno man...he's still pretty sensationalistic about it, isn't he? I didn't read all of The Game, but it seemed like the only book that just told things as they were without all of the "DO YOU WANT TO LAY ANY WOMAN YOU WANT?!" shit.

Well yeah - I mean, he has to make his money somehow, so he has to present his stuff as something "unique".

What I don't like about "The Game", is that it focuses too much on techniques, and not much on the attitudes. (At least that's the impression I got after reading the first few chapters).

While the main messages in "Double your dating" are:

1). Everything's a skill. Get enough practice in anything, and you'll be able to do it. Always keep improving yourself, in every aspect.
2). Be positive. Never bring yourself down in your thoughts. Don't take your misfortunes personally. Keep trying. Set your goal and work your way to it.
3). Be fun to be around. Don't give women everything they want, don't play their games, always be cool and in control. Tease them, be cocky and funny, and generally have a good time - on your terms.

So it's all pretty basic stuff, that just puts you in the right frame of mind, without killing your personality for it. While the PUAs seem to bring it all down to almost an exact sequence of phrases and actions, that they claim will work on any woman. In "The Game" they seem to treat people as Pavlov's dogs - I don't really agree with it. Compare that to DYD:

"In the process I realized something very important: No tactic works on every woman. Some women are not interested in meeting someone right now.
Some women are lesbians and have no interest in men.
Some women are happily married or in a relationship and don't want to meet someone new right now.
Some women are angry.
Some are cold.
My guess is that in a random group of 100 women, only about 30 of them might be open to meeting someone new right now (In a romantic sense).
What this means is that 70 AREN'T interested in meeting someone new.
And of the 30 who are interested in meeting someone new, maybe only 15 are nice, friendly, happy people. Do you see where I'm going with this?
If you want to be successful at meeting women, you have to
understand that many of the women that you talk to aren't interested.
Most people take things like this PERSONALLY. Instead of just moving on to the next woman, they get all uptight and feel bad about it."

So yeah, I personally think DeAngelo's book better. Definitely helped me understand what's going on when I was a clueless teen. "The Game", the bits that I read, didn't really do much to me.

Goddamn that sounded like an advert. :D

Bitch, you could have at least quoted me.

"The Game" was a mildly entertaining book and it's not a very big book so why not just read it?.

hahahaha you shithead.

Yeah me too now that you mention it. Fuck.

I read the game by neill strauss, and it was pretty good and gave me a lil peek into the world of PUAs. I'm starting up on mystery's book now. "How to get beautiful women in bed with you" I think it's called.

I would read The Game, just torrent the audio CD's and you'll get through it pretty fast.

I found a torrent for the Mystery Method. It's all a bunch of really basic knowledge of social dynamics and things you learned about girls in high school.

Seriously, he's not going to give you any real knowledge from experience unless you pay like 2 grand and take some seminars. If you were a pick up artist, would you want to give away all your secrets to someone who can just download a book?
