Default Thoughts on fear and loathing in las vegas

Im in the midst of watching it right now Ive seen it before but this time it seems better its so realistic the way the show the acid trips like when the guys like "take the ticket" and he looks all tall and menacing. I think this video really shows how good of an actor johnny depp really is. Is there any other movies similar to this you would reccomend?

Want to ruin your day?

Use a psych (weeds fine even, anything to open your mind) and watch requiem for a dream.

It isn't based on truth and shit, and it isn't propaganda. Its about all kinds of addiction, not only drugs.

I wouldn't exactly put it in the same category as Fear and Loathing but Trainspotting is a particularly kick ass drug movie.

It is too propaganda. An entire circle of friends/family goes from semi-normal life to rock-bottom addiction all at the same time at about the same frequency-- WORST possible case scenario in each situation. Wow, what a co-in-ci-dink. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Depp lived with hunter s. thompson for a while, Depp was in charge of his funeral arrangements... Build a giant couple hundred foot tall monument to gonzo, launch his ashes out of a cannon in the monument so they would explode above his compound, and Depp went through with his wishes...

he was worried that he wouldn't live up to his expectations as playing Raul Duke, but HST said himself said he was happy with his performance...

Alot of actors, artist, novelist, and various other characters spent time at hunters compound... Watch "Buy the ticket, take the ride" its a documentary of his life and death. In ways everyone knew he was going to kill himself one day, but even up until days before his death he was talking to people about various plans as far as writing went...

whoo~ pineapple express!! jk.

really though, requiem was ok. nothing spectacular. fear and loathing, although a good movie, is pretty exaggerated..... (*cough* adrenochrome *cough*) although, he does admit to that later on.

people put too much emphasis on the adrenochrome scene... its based on gonzo journalism, things don't have to be entirely true... they could be as warped as he wished to interpret them...

You are such a free-thinking original poster for making this topic! Absolutely NO ONE in the entire world has made discussion about this, and believe me, I have checked THE ENTIRE WORLD. THE. WHOLE. THING. EEK! Hell, until you posted I didn't even believe that anyone had seen the movie but me, it's like SOOOOOOO indiecult, some little studio called Universal. I know, right!? I never heard of it either. LIKE OMIGOSH DID U KNOW IT WAS A BOOK? Like, I never knew it was a book either, because I'm a dumbass just like you.

No seriously, grow the fuck up. The damn story came out in the 70's, pretty much everyone knows about it. We don't need you acting like it's the fucking new hot shit, especially if it's the film version. Maybe you should stop trying to increase the size of your e-penis, and, I dunno, maybe go fucking OUTSIDE!? But don't come to TOTSE singing the praises of outside either, unlike you we have been there. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

QFMFT! Depp followed through with Thompsons wishes to have his ashes blasted out of the "double thumb" Gonzo statue (there is actually footage of Hunter describing this in a documentary that I don't remember the name of). Mixed with a nice array of fireworks. HST lived for shit like that. There is also another movie out, "GONZO". It was released in theatres about 6 months ago. It looks really interesting. Wish someone had a torrent (hint, hint) I can't find one.

I wish I knew how to "Quote" more than one post at a time cause that asshole Kitsunexus really just doesn't get it. Threads/posts like this help to celebrate and keep alive the memory of great people. And whether you like it or not, every year, month, week, and day people are going to discover this story (which happens to be kept on the "classics" rack at my library and most others. Right there with 'Moby Dick' and the like) and want to discuss it with anyone around them. OK, it's soooo old hat to you that you don't want to hear it, then don't. Period. You knew what this thread was about when you clicked on it. I don't come into your threads and tell you to quit sucking dick do I?

And then kwiksuxdix says "unlike you, we've been there." Referring to "outside" even though he is inside posting to a deeply topical forum. Hmm...

This really belongs in the PM - if it is about the book - or in the movie forum [whose name eludes me at the moment] - if it's about the movie.

Since I know not which you are talking about, I am just going to close this.
