Mycobags take forever to colonize.

Just do a Pftek it really is very simple.

yeah, just go for the pf tek. look on youtube. you'll find a lot of good guides there. but if you must go with a mycobag because of whatever reason. it is recommended to take it out of the bag once they start pinning and grow them outside of the bag. i was looking at one site who had bags where you could grow them in the bag. so the only time you open the bag is when it's ready to be picked. not such a smart thing.

The PF tek sucks! When will people realize this? If you are going to go through the effort of growing, do some more homework and start a grow that you will be proud of. Mycobags spawned to hpoo/straw FTW! With the PF tek, you waste so much time sterilizing, building incubation chambers, building fruiting chambers, and all the other shit for what? a measly ounce or two (if you're lucky) dry yields. 200-300 grams (dry) sounds a lot better huh? Bulk grows are NOT hard. They simply take more time, and cost a little more. But the yields you get are worth it a hundred times over. Go on the shroomery, and check out monotub, double tub, even invitro poo bag teks. All those teks are insanely easy to do and pay off.

Doing bulk grows you have to basically do the pf tek anyways. You still have to inoculate a jar, whether it be a cake, wbs or rye.

But yeah, I agree bulk is better. For some people though, they only want to grow enough to trip a few times and cakes are really simple.

8-16 doses a grow is pathetic. Especially if you're looking to make some money. The fact is, Brown rice flour simply does not have sufficient nutrients to fruit large, healthy, and prolific mushrooms. Now, I have seen some pretty good PF-tek grows, but I have also seen some pretty shitty bulk grows. The outcome of your grow depends on many variables, but there is a clear winner here. If you want any sort of respectable yield, you should be doing bulk. BRF/WBS/rye/millet all have enough nutrients to support healthy mycelium hence them being used as spawn, but they don't really prevail in fruiting. Sure, you can fruit off BRF and rye, but it wont likely be anything impressive.

I've been so through so much fucking trouble in the last few months to get mushrooms. Everything just kept falling through. If it wasn't the mail taking a long time/fucking up on my shit, it was something like friends' parents finding things.

on that note...i started a bag from themadseason.com about 2 weeks ago. It's colonizing pretty well but I have a feeling it's gonna take a while. it'll be worth it to me because i'm lazy and i really don't wanna hassle with pf tek.

so...maybe try it out and maybe start a few jars while the bag's doin it's thing?
