Default mushroom season

so now thats it's the start of mushroom season I went to the biggest spot i found last season today (picked about 8oz's total dry last year). A couple days ago it rained really hard so i figured I'd wait a couple days and then go check it out. I looked around for a while and didn't even find one mushroom. Im not sure if it might be a little to early or that we picked to many last year because we cleaned it out pretty good. Any ideas?

I found around 5, but I didnt pick them, I just marked nearby trees, and I'll be sure to check them out in a week or two, and so on, for about a month.

Can't wait to go frolicking in a field with a basket full of mushrooms. Gotta give it a few more weeks here though. Haven't seen any gold tops so far.

I heard if you train a dog to smell out the mushrooms, you can find ten times as many. Profit!

Does said training involve feeding the dog mushrooms so as to turn it into a fiend for the shrooms?

No, it just involves giving it a treat or something each time it finds them.

Ok let me rephrase that.

you can't pick any descent sized shroom until october(which is in like a week incase your dumbass didn't know

oh wait that's basically what i said in my first post faglegs.

gb2/living in pakistan where shrooms don't grow and october is irrelevant then making a technicality on my post too make yourself appear perceptive.

Of course you can get decent sized shrooms before October in a large portion of areas. You rephrased what you said and it's still full of shit. Maybe that is how it is where you live, but it depends highly on where you are. There are many mushrooms species you can find before fall (cubes anyone?). While you are accusing me "making technicalities", I might as well do so. Good job proving yourself even more retarded by typing stuff like incase and using descent instead of decent (among other mistakes).

LOL, a large portion of area's being WHERE?. South america? Fucking southern asia? I don't know and I don't care, there are few if any south asian/american totser's which is why this is irrelevant. IF YOU DIDNT NOTICE, most of totse is in the usa/canada or the UK where mushroom season is in OCTOBER K?.

also you're retarded for trying to correct me and then spelling "in case" wrong in your correction. Dumbass.

No one even knows who you are or cares so why don't you go correct people's mistakes by spelling them wrong somewhere else.

- what species,

- what latitude,

- what altitude?

There are other factors one must learn of to forage... anything... but let's start with those three.

it could be done... they use animals to find truffles beneath the dirt.... its done with pigs and dogs...

but speaking of truffles, if you trained a dog to look for them... black truffles go for $130-$380 per pound, white go for $1350-$2700 per pound.

theres a good deal of money in them, and its legal if you live in one of the parts of the world where they grow...

Surely a warmer Southern US climate would cause shrooms to develop earlier?

the ones i plan to hunt for start growing when it stays between 60-80 degrees... late September until the frost come... and i believe some have found some in spring when it starts to warm back up again.

we kind of have to wait for it too cool off at this part of the year... the temps seem to be pretty good now, just waiting on the rain...

Actually, it depends on the triggers. Most mushrooms pin and bud when there is a significant temperature drop, so shrooms in the south may very well develop later.

yeah i don't know how texas/southern seasons work, i would think it would take longer for somewhere like texas too get the fall drop in temp that's the hint of mush season.

Which mushrooms are you talking about? Cubensis and probably a few others grow all year round in certain parts of texas.

I believe Cubensis is worth more :) But I'm not sure about truffels, about how rare they are and stuff.
