So...What IS the best country to live in?
Since there's always has been and will be the America vs UK, America vs Canada, America vs world, et cetera debates, what really is the best country to live in in this day and age? Take the financial responsibilities and other factors into account, such as if you get "free" healthcare and schooling.
If you want to look at it in another light: if you could live anywhere in the world for the rest of your life, where?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Development_Index
Basically any Nordic or northwest European country, or Australia / NZ, or Canada.
Hm, which country has been number one the most? .
The HDI is generally a good indicator of what country is the 'best' to live in.
Other factors are obviously present -- if you've lived in Hawaii or some hot tropical place your whole life, you probably wouldn't enjoy Norway or Iceland much...

What are you talking about? All the big cities are within 200 km of the border, something like 90%+ of the population. Probably more. Are you talking about the wilderness and nature and all that? If that's the case, the good shit still is pretty close to the border. Culturally (lolwut culture) everything 'Canadian' is very close to the border. To summarize: Canada is far more win in all aspects of the word when you're within, say, 500 km of the border. Though the Yukon and far northwestern BC seems appealing.

Re: So...What IS the best country to live in?
Reason being this thread was made, I heard a very promising argument today about how Cuba (iknorite?) was better than the America, in terms of living standards. Albeit lacking technology...they get shit done.

Australia is pretty good, the living standards are fairly decent. I'd love to tour europe and see what places have to offer over there. I'm keen to go to swtizerland to see a friend.

Re: So...What IS the best country to live in?
Japan / Osaka or Tokyo
Reason:
Totally rocks the hell out of me, in my opinion it's way more open minded, cultured, technologically advanced . . . etc
plus the food there is what I like most. Add some anime and its beautiful locations and you will see what I mean. I'd rather live in an apartment in Nippon than a house with a pool in Beverly hills . . .

Re: So...What IS the best country to live in?
Everyone wants to kill the Americans these days. Bomb 'em out, smoke 'em out, starve 'em out... whatever it takes. But they're tough. You gotta remember, these are the same rugged and bold pioneers that figured out how to abuse and take complete advantage of an entire culture for decades, forcing them to pick cotton for free, in exchange for the offerings of watermelon and chicken alone... and liking it. These are the same dashing darlings that live by the gun, all the while exonerating its use by issuing more decorations of peace. Yes, a nation that turns on its own kind in a second, butchering thousands of its own friendlies just to pull the wool over the eyes of the next guy, in order to get what's his for themselves. An economic-driven society, bloated and pampered beyond all measure, laying there like a naked 800-pound man in a bachelor-apartment bed. Many would jump at the chance to knock a leg out on any one of these fakers, and even now Russia, China, Germany and the entire Arab Emirate Republic sit with gleaming eyes and dripping drool, only waiting for someone to clap their hands before springing onto their true target of hatred. Not that I'm personally prejudiced or anything.

So...you made up your mind about a country from only seeing a fraction from it, probably not really interacting with the locals and seeing as it was a resort in cancun, I'm quite sure that it looks very different to the "real" mexico.
