First things first...IMO and in the opinions of many many people, you should buy silver until you have no more room for it, then buy gold. RTFYP!!!!!! (Read The Fucking Yellow Pages)

Secondly...you should be able to buy bars/coins/rounds at a local dealer, but dont expect a super price. Many dealers around me gave me shit prices until I became a regular there.

Or:

www.apmex.com

www.kitco.com

www.ebay.com

Hasn't gold already jumped high? Not sure about sliver...

In general, say the past few years what has been return rates on gold and sliver? Seems like it would be yes riskier to go with other investments but more profitable (like mutual funds)

I to have a question. Does &t think it would be a good thing to buy right this instant? Long term or short? How long/short?

Not really. IMO, buy gold until it hits $1000. Silver is still very low. The ROI obviously depends on when you bought the PMs.

Buy what? Ice cream?

Listen guys...if you want to get into PMs, then you are going to be in it for the LONG TERM. PMs arent for short term holding, unless you want to pull your hair out. The prices fluctuate all the time, day by day...one day silver could be at $23 and the next it could be at $10.

If you really want to invest in PMs, then buy buy buy, and dont touch it for atleast 10 years. Obviously, follow the auctions daily to see what the prices are, but do not sell any of it unless you drastically need the money. PMs ARE A LONG TERM INVESTMENT.

At a place in new york city you can just walk in and buy gold.

Gold has not been very good recently. If you want security in these climates go for tobacco companies and those companies which make common peoples drinks, e.g. Smirnoff.
