Question Smoking bud after wisdom tooth extraction?

Had em pulled yesterday; was planning to abstain for at least a week (or however long it takes to heal) but I recently stumbled across this article:

http://www.americasdentalbookstore.c...Prevention.htm

So anyway, now that I've found information both for and against my goal I've decided to turn to the wonderful world of BLTC and see if anyone here has any personal experience with this?

Bong hits through the nose!

But seriously, that is primarily for tobacco due to the effects of nicotine.

I smoked right after I got all 4 of mine pulled and ended up fine just be careful not to suck too hard. I found using a bong with no water in it to work great.

Yeah, I smoked when I had mine removed. I had no choice; I couldn't quit smoking cigarettes and weed was pretty much the same. You've gotta be very careful to not suck hard though, dry socket is pretty painful.

Right after I got my wisdom teeth pulled out, I smoked a cigarette. Just don't inhale too hard.

Could suction be avoided through use of a bucket bong or just by having someone shotgun you the hit? Attaching a gas mask to a vape? Or is there still a small bit of suction necessary, even for these methods, and thus still potential for a dry socket? I wanted to figure out how to smoke with a friend whose wisdom teeth got removed, but I never settled on a legitamite solution in which suction wasn't necessary on the friend's part. I chalk it up to not knowing enough about the physics of smoking.

Dont listen to these idiots, its not about the suctionMad
They talk about smoke, and mostly nicotine which disturbs the healing process.

But if you just need a reason to whip out the bucket, go for it.:D

yo i got a great solution where u dont even have to open your mouth

but it does require another smoker.

roll a blunt. let friend ttake a few hits, then tell him to shotgun you.

here is the catch, keep ur mouth closed and inhale it through ur nostril.

it will completely eliminate chances of dry socket (OWWWWW!!!)

I smoked weed constantly throughout the healing process after the removal of my wisdom tooth. Was it a good idea? Probably not.

However I feel fine, and am just a bit hungry......

I've had several teeth pulled over the years, and I am at the point where I pretty much ignore what the dentist says. Really, it's all about common sense. If you are going to smoke, what you should do it bite down on your gauze as you draw on the butt, and just suck gently. They tell you that you can pull the clots out from suction etc, and you can, but as long as you bite down, and draw gently, you will be fine. If you are that worried about it, use a fan to aid in your hits. Shit I just realized you meant pot. Same rules apply, don't smoke out of a bong though, smoke joints, or blunts or whatever it is you smoke, no bowls or bongs, the suction needed to work them is more than enough to rip those clots right the fuck out.

And it's only common sense to put gauze in for the duration of the cigarette or joint, even after you are supposed to have taken them out, otherwise you would have nothing to bite down on to hold the clots in place.

I light up a cigarette as soon as I walk out of the front door. Fuck em. I have nothing but utter disdain for the American Medical Association as well as hypocritical jackass they claim to regulate.

Fuck doctors. I only go for extractions, I have yet to start work on dentures, but when it comes to emergency pain, I man the fuck up and stick that needle right back in my jaw and aspirate/inject that lidocaine right in there.

Hmmm, pay some jackass med student FOUR HUNDRED FUCKING DOLLARS, or do it myself for literally 1/1000th of the cost? Yeah, fuck that, I'm cheap.

I smoked a bowl every night to help me fall asleep, which was great on oxycodone. Seriously listen to what the other people are saying. Pack your bowl or roll your blunt as loosely as possibly and just don't suck on it too hard.

I get mine taken out in 3 weeks. I'll get benzos afterwards anyway though, so I can go a week without blazing.

I just made a crappy lung with a 2L bottle and used it, no suction meant I wasn't worried at all. Went well with the percocets that I didn't even need to use as the operation was completely perfect and I felt almost no pain at all a few hours after it.

I no longer smoke but the last time I got a tooth pulled I abstained for a week period. Different sources will tell you one, two, three, maybe even five or seven days. Regardless, getting high will not be worth the pain of a dry socket should you get one.

On a seperate note, would the extra painkillers prescribed not be worth purposefully getting dry socket? I had my wisdom teeth pulled, got some vic, but what might they give you if you get dry socket...

It heals itself anyways I think, it's just a painful waiting game.

no, probably not worth a dry socket for pain pills. my friends older brother had one and I asked him the same thing and he said it's not worth it at all...

Best advice in this thread; it's how I did it when I got all four of mine out and I didn't have a problem whatsoever.

I've never had one to attest to by way of personal experience but from what I gather dry sockets fucking suck, and I doubt there's a 100% chance, or even close to it, of getting more pain pills for it. Not worth the chance you might have of walking out with 800 mg ibuprofen, IMO. Besides, if the dry sockets were bad enough, the BS 10 or 20 hydros probably wouldn't even put a dent in it anyways.
