Better Living Through Chemistry Discussions of any and all sorts of mind-warping chemicals, pills, booze, mind machines, trippy stuff, current street prices, importing pharmaceuticals, smart drugs, nutrients, herbs, and altered states. Please try to keep your conversations "theoretical" in nature, since this is an open conference.

Default Mah future is at stake!

Okay, so leading on from my other thread in SG:

Anybody have a general idea on the availability of jobs in Australia as an organic chemist? I hear it's shit and impossible to find, but it really is the most interesting chemistry course on offer IMO.

(the thread was about which uni to do science in)

So yes, any ideas? or should i take a few extra years, pay a few more tens of thousands of dollars in student fees and get into nuclear engineering?

Thanks for any help you can give.

So do you want a job with a company in a factory or a bunch of angry people with guns in run down housing estates?

So long as I'm wearing a lab coat I'll be set.

Seriously though, legit jobs. Just wanted to know how much of a need for organic chemists there is, or what kind of chemistry would have many jobs available.

shit dude, why stop at organic chem? THat opens doors to pharmacology and toxicology and an array of other fields. The more you narrow your skills down the better job you'll get. it may be harder to find a career that calls for all those things, but if you do you will be making bank!$$$!
