Default snorting prescribed meds

I was just watching this show, and they claimed that in the states it's illegal to snort medication even if you lawfully own it. Is this true? Is it really illegal to snort/ingest pills or meds in any other way besides the way they're supposed to be taken? That seems like bull shit to me...

No you're not allowed to take your medication how you want and you're not allowed to think for yourself either. Now shut the fuck up.

No and its a dumb thing to do, most meds have extremely high bioavailability, not meant to be sent flying up your nose, not much point...

Best explanation I can come up with is that you could be charged with Drug Abuse.

Popping "them"? and by "them" you mean...?

and what show was that?

BTW hydromorph is made in such teenytiny pills that its really unnecessary unless you want your kids to accidentaly eat a bunch of them.... its almost like they made them this way so they can be snorted (for a 2x bonus to your B.A.)

Same can be said for Roxi 15/30s. Ever seen one of those crumble up? Might as well just include a rig in the pill bottle.

You are a pretentious fool. It's my understanding that insufflation bypasses first pass metabolism and almost always increases bioavailability. The onset is faster, the high is higher and shorter. Who are you to say what we are "meant" to do with a drug?

Shut the fuck up with your ignorant bullshit.

Shut the fuck up with your ignorant bullshit.

The binders of some pills do not absorb well into the mucus membranes and therefore can cause a problem with insufflation even if the drug contained within it works perfectly fine when going up the nose.

Not everything suffers a great loss of potency when going through first-pass. Take Alprazolam, for instance. I just checked Wikipedia, and oral availabiltiy is 80-90%. Diazepam is 93%. Even with insufflation of either of those, which goes on a lot in the drug world, you're not going to hit 100%; you'll be lucky to get to 95% for insufflation with anything, if you even do get that high up there. Considering the diazepam....well, 95% from 93% isn't really worth explaining. Alprazolam; well, if you take say, two bars, 4 mg, orally, low estimate of 80% says you get 3.2 mg. Snort those 4 mg, at the high estimate of 95%, and you got 3.8 mg. A difference of 0.6 mg, or just over a quarter of one bar. Let's cut off my generous 95% estimate and make that 0.5.

An additional 0.5 tablet of Xanax, to me, is not worth having to rail the contents of two entire bars. But hey, to each their own.

I'm not saying it's not your right to go ahead and snort whatever drug you're doing, I'm just saying a lot of people are misinformed about the whole issue and are subjecting their nasal cavities to unnecessary abuse by way of whatever binders and fillers are holding their pills together.

I am aware that binders and fillers tend to not absorb through the nasal membranes but that's never been a problem for me. It's just swallowed when sniffed back or picked out like normal mucus.

Powders do irritate the nose though, that is why they use nasal sprays in medicine. The drying effect of stimulants causes the most actual damage to those membranes. If you have ever had that dry sludge blood up there with a consistent sting similar to that from REALLY dry hands (that have started to bleed from dryness) then you know what I mean. I am not convinced that a snorted powder in itself physically causes serious nose damge just because it's not absorbed. If you have any more information/a source on that I'd appreciate it.

Have you ever heard of something called federalism you retard? I hate when people ask questions like "is [random variable] illegal in the States"? Maybe, but it isn't a federal law so it depends on where the fuck you are.

You're fully versed in federal law?? Medication is controlled through the FDA, and if you think the FDA is controlled by the state, lol@you.

The powder in and of itself isn't necessarily damaging, no; it comes down to what's in it.

But I wasn't saying these powders and/or their binders and fillers cause serious or permanent damage, because I'm not even sure I believe that myself. However, let's start with obvious one; acetaminophen. Yeah, we know a lot of people snort Vicodin and Percocet and various flavors of generic equivalents, and they're putting a whole bunch of Tylenol in their nose in the process. Burns like hell, too.

Other pills may have binders/fillers made of sugar, which doesn't feel very good entering the nose, either.

When I said "unnecessary abuse" I'm referring more to the discomfort of railing the things rather than the possible damage they can cause. I know some sources say things like cellulose and chalk are common as fillers and that because they are designed to be digested by the stomach and are not water soluble they can cause possible blockages in the lungs. Not sure if I believe that one myself, but regardless that has nothing to do with the nasal passages, which we're discussing...

So yeah, it really comes down to what I consider to be discomfort in railing pills. Shit, some may like it, just like I've met people who enjoy chewing up Percocets and Vicodins, and more power to them. I'm just saying there are too many people who probably don't enjoy railing those pills but do so anyways because they're under the impression they won't get high otherwise.

Yea on 'Busted' on MTV they pulled over this dude and found a straw and bill with residue and he told them that he snorts his pills because they make him sick eating it and he was charged with Drug Abuse. If you go against what the label says its Drug Abuse.

What fucking pills were they? Im sooo fucking curious ya asshats!

Drug abuse laws are severely retarded.. and it does not even have to be recreational, just prescribed...
They include MOA as well as dosage (duh) and even cases of (somewhat) potentiation, if thats what is indeed intended, such as getting caught fucked and admitting to take your vicodin with adderall, although prescribed, together with intent of "feeling good", just because adderall comes with a small note containing many blanket statements such as "INTERACTIONS: may significantly increase the effect of narcotic painkillers"

Some dousche was snorting vicodins lol. But still, it begs the question as there are some meds that are much better snorted than orally (hydrocodone of course not being one).

"It is often hard to predict the course of a dust disease and the symptoms a person may experience. Some workers may suffer little from the disease-even in its advanced state-and eventually die of other causes.

Many workers who breathe in harmful dusts over a long period of time develop a serious illness. Shortness of breath is often the first symptom to appear. A cough is often the next symptom. A person may show signs of heart failure, including severe shortness of breath. As the disease advances, scarring takes place in the lungs. This reduces normal flow of oxygen into the blood stream and may cause the lips to look blue.

People with dust diseases may develop complications such as the development of tuberculosis, pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, lung cancer and emphysema."

i would imagine nearly all of the powder that is snorted is caught by the mucus in the nasal cavities.

We have a very low tolerance for trolling in this forum. If you want to get a ban, keep it up.

As to the OP: Yes it is true that taking your meds in other than the prescribed way is usually illegal.

But that doesn't stop me from doing it with my morphine and Oxy's when I get those.

I think it is regarding to a federal law which mandates that 'you must use a product as is, or as perscribe'. I can't think of the exact wording, but it goes something along the lines of that. Although I rarely doubt they would prosecute anybody for it, you'd definatley lose your script.

And BTW POC, the company with the V is the logo of Qualitest Pharmeceuticals
