From my profession of having the correct lineage I have acquired £25,000. it is coming from an overseas bank. What should I do with it. I need it for uni, £5000 the first year and onwards until the last year. I have a further £10,000 I have stashed away, £6000 in an isa and £4000 in a current account. I am really open to advice. It must be legal, I am however not averse to risks.

edit: I do not go to uni till next september, then it is five years of being studious.

Maybe someone else knows of a slightly better paying investment that isn't going to crumble.

Paid it in today (the cheque) and the hsbc guys tried to sell me some deposit bonds which offered a poor rate. I want to stick some in an investment fund, but I am a man of science not investment.

Goto different banks, get (in the states we call) CDs.

Certificate of Deposit which is the same as a deposit bond.

What I meant to say is don't keep it as literal cash, but either in a savings account or term deposit (same thing as a CD or deposit bond).

I was definitely thinking deposit bond. I found a deposit bond which was 7.02% gross, and after 20% it still worked out a bit below 5.8%.
