benzos and alcohol dehydration
Usually when i drink alcohol and take no other drugs i will wake up really dehydrated and will be drinking water all day.
I have noticed that when i take Valium and drink heavily i will wake up feeling great and dont feel dehydrated at all.
I always wake up feeling great and hardly drink much water.
This cant be healthy?
Can anyone explain this to me?

Re: benzos and alcohol dehydration
Valium is one of the longer acting benzos, the only i know personally that lasts longer is flurazepam. So that will explain why you still feel good in the morning, I dont know why you dont feel thirsty tho. Id force my self to drink a bottle of water anyways if i were you.

Re: benzos and alcohol dehydration
I swear benzos are like the wonder drug. Not the best high, but just the way it makes you feel all together. I do have SAD/PD though, so I'm sure it benefits me more than your average drug seeker. I can get like three hours of sleep on xanny and wake up refreshed, and I also have noticed that I don't get nearly as hungover some how like yourself.

Re: benzos and alcohol dehydration
Okay i think i figured it out correct me if im wrong.
Alcohol works as a diuretic and makes you have to piss a lot more frequently than normal. Resulting in a terrible hangover due to dehydration the next day.
The benzo is the complete opposite of a diuretic and makes you pee less.
So in the end they both cancel out each other?
I dunno.

Ok...
Let me explain this to you dude: Alcohol dehydrates your body severely by excreting water out of your cells and passes it out through your urinary system, which is why you pee so much when you drink (Thats not alcohol thats coming out, thats almost all water). Normally your body will retain fluids, but when you drink you dont. You are right as in alcohol acts like a diuretic, although compared to most other diuretics its quite unique.
A hangover is mostly related to dehydration and a lack of vitamins/minerals/electrolytes that are quickly excreted through your body while you drink, which is why most 'hangover cures' have you drink a couple glasses of water and pop a few multi vitamins before you pass out. Besides the fact that ethanol is a literal poison once inside your body. Vitamins and water will work wonders after a night on the town
Benzos dont make you pee less; the reason why you feel better in the morning is because of Valiums long half life and probaly because of the fact that you are still partially sedated, if not still under the influence. Besides the fact that alcohol acts as a potentiator to the Valium, so even if you are taking a small dose it will multiply it(all depending on dose/tolerance/amount consumed). You just simply dont realize that your dehydrated because your still feeling good on the Valium; even still do your body a favor a drink a few glasses and pop a centrum or two, it will thank you later.
They do not 'cancel each other out', in fact they work one in the same.
