Salvia, do I need a sitter?
Basically, I got my hands on some 30x Salvia and want to give it a whirl. Problem..
My family "does" have a history of schizophrenia, depression.. the whole works. I don't want a sitter out of fear that if I do go loony they'll get the blame. Besides, the few good friends I would trust as a sitter don't deserve the guilt they'd go through if anything ever did happen.
Of course, not having a sitter brings in dangers for me. Am I going to jump around, run, do something stupid, ect.. I know people "usually" sit down and do nothing. But "usually" doesn't cut it with something with potential danger.
I'm thinking of locking myself in a room, and putting all breakable and dangerous objects away. Though there's still a risk, though I'm not sure how much of one.
Anything to say totse? I know at least 50% of BLTC knows what they're talking about.

Re: Salvia, do I need a sitter?
I recommend it, for your safety. But you will most likely be fine. If you can, get a friend to just be there, in case you..... fall in the pool, trip, fall, run, pick up sharp/dangerous objects.... ect...

Re: Salvia, do I need a sitter?
most likely not, but it doesn't hurt. salvia is very short lasting. granted damage can be done in ten minutes.

Go to a school football field, wear a mask and black clothes. Hold a knife in the other hand. If your not emo, you'll live, If not you didn't need to live anyways

Re: Salvia, do I need a sitter?
a sitter really depends on the setting...in a room with nothing breakable or with anything you could hurt yourself with, worse case scenario you fall and get a concussion...
but then again i did salvia with some people when i was camping... there was a camp fire... i didnt really announce that i was about to smoke some salvia, so when i got up no one really stopped me and then i took a step into the camp fire... someone tackled me out of the fire and i landed on a tent, and destroyed the tent... i couldn't even feel the pain of being burnt while on salvia... but when i came down i saw my foot covered in ash with 4 small 2nd degree burns on a couple of my toes and my ankle... could have been much worse, i lucked out...
so hey, if you can get a place where your not going to break anything or hurt yourself... then go for it... but most people don't have padded rooms in their house... an open grassy field would be an option... but a sitter for salvia is something i recommend, take turns with it... its one of those drugs where when you come down your asking "what the fuck just happened?" and sure your pretty sure what just happened inside your head but i like knowing what i was physically doing... from what people have told me im not the giggly sort of person on salvia, i either just sit quietly or walk around with an intent look on my face...

Re: Salvia, do I need a sitter?
Im sure you will probably be fine as salvia only lasts a few minutes.
You have more of a chance getting hurt walking to your mailbox.
Everytime i take salvia i get tunnel vision and a sick uncomfortable feeling in my stomach and i tell myself "IM NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN" then a month or 2 later im like salvia sounds like lots of fun!!!!

Re: Salvia, do I need a sitter?
Thanks for the responses. Made me confident enough to try it..
Sin it wasn't actually Salvia though, or anything for that matter. Best be telling the guy that "gave" it to me he's selling bullshit.
Will get some real stuff soon enough though. Can't wait to scare myself shitless.

Re: Salvia, do I need a sitter?
Have someone with you. If there's someone there you'll be fine, no need to worry about them feeling guilty.
I know a girl who tried it on the beach in a tent, completely lost her mind and ran towards the sea screaming. I had to run after her and pull her back from sticking her head in a pool.
It isn't likely that you'll (be able to) do anything bad when you're on it, but a sitter's a good idea.
And people saying things like 'remember it's all in your head' haven't had salvia. At least not properly. If you break through you have no idea what's in your head and what isn't.

Re: Salvia, do I need a sitter?
I never needed a sitter cause i just smoke salvia (40x) and then sit on my couch. I don't think i'm too different from other people.

Did you smoke it with a torch lighter / bong?

Re: Salvia, do I need a sitter?
If your inexperienced it might be worth having a sitter but its only a very short lasting drug and if you manage to break through then you probably wont be going anywhere anyway. Best thing to do it just do it in a safe environment and the biggest thing to have a sitter around for imo is to have somebody to take the pipe/bong off you in case you drop it. First time I did salvia I spilled the bong all over myself because I refused to give it to my friend moments before I broke through and fell over backwards onto the bed.

Regular lighter, homemade bong. I got that stupid high once before with the same method with 10x, this was 30x and I felt nothing. I can't see it being not hot enough.

you dont need a torch lighter, i and many others on here have done it with a good old bic.
If your smoking out of a nice bong id say get a sitter, or make sure immediatley after you finish inhaling you put the bong away safely near you. Since your using a homemade and worthless i guess it doesnt matter. other than that you should be fine but personally i wouldnt do salvia without a sitter.

Re: Salvia, do I need a sitter?
I wouldn't say you need a "sitter" persay, because I just laid on the couch hallucinating fields, books and ghosts and could not move if i tried, but i've seen people walk on it.. but ultimately i'd want someone there because it's nice to talk to someone after you stop tripping..
someone to ground you in reality basically.

Re: Salvia, do I need a sitter?
In my opinion, no, as long as you don't do it in a dangerous environment, ie. at the top of stairs, by water, cliffs etc, etc.

eh getting up and walking around is sort of a hit or miss thing with me at least...
my first couple times breaking through i just laid there... the last time i did it was camping, got up walked around the circle of chairs and then took a step into the fire...
its strange, it really cuts off the pain impulse but leaves you with enough motor function to walk around with... i had 4 small 2nd degree burns that should have hurt a great deal... everyone was like "you have to be hurt man, you just stepped into a fire" and i just looked at my foot and said "it cant be that bad i hardly even feel anything" the thought should have crossed my mind that most 3rd degree burns don't hurt because the nerves are dead... but visually my foot didn't look like it had 3rd degree burns... washed it off, put some anti bacterial ointment on it and went to sleep a couple hours later... has any research been done on how exactly salvia effects the brain? i just find it interesting that the mind can be sent so far away from the physical world that pain becomes negligible but the body can still move and communicate on some level even if verbal communication is not really coherent to outside observation...
i would like to film myself on salvia just to compare what im physically doing to what i experienced during my trip... its an interesting drug but i plan to stay away from it for a while, and if i ever do it again its going to be in a much safer setting....

I get very paranoid and suspicious after the main trip's over. You shouldn't need a sitter for the trip, but it's good to have someone to talk to afterwards. Maybe even tell a friend you're doing salvia and might give them a call in 15 minutes, if you're worried about your mental reaction.
It's fun to do it with someone else though, take it in turns like someone said.

I burned my had really badly using a torch lighter once and found the salvia intensified the pain hugey. Had I not been under the influence I would probably have just shaken it off as a I minor burn but this royally fucked my my trip.

I'm really sensitive to pain and discomfort on it too. A couple of times I've felt like I'm being jabbed with needles every time I touched anything hard, and I've had grass feel like razor blades. Happens to my mate too.

Re: Salvia, do I need a sitter?
I'm usually very insensitive in my hands though, iv burned them so many times I have a thick layer of skin. For a burn to have hurt so much on salvia it must have been the drug intensifying the pain or shock.
