So this is what it feels like...

I knew business was down 32% at our shop from last year, but they already layed off 2 people 2 weeks ago, I thought my job was safe. Guess not.



So who needs an in-between jobs automotive tech-in-training?


You know the worse thing about this, the place I was at was one of the few places willing to hire me while I was still a student. Others just said "well even though you know your stuff, we would rather hire someone who already has his degree, that way we dont have to keep working your work schedule around your school schedule. (obviously paraphrased)



Case in point:

My father got layed off one time when the company he worked for closed and played unemployment for four or five months, it paid better than his actual previous job did.

What kind of poor paying job did he have, was he a nurse?

Nurses tend to make 60k or so, and they are in shortage pretty much everywhere, meaning he wouldn't have gotten laid off.

No welfare/unemployment for me.

Im still a student, so I wasnt full time. I was close, normally 32-35 hours a week.

Besides its not like im in dire situation here. Im in college. No mortgage, car payments and stuff like that. Just internet, phone, cable and the occasional box of condoms and booze.


I still got a healthy monetary amount in various savings.

I was just raised by hard working immigrant parents who instilled that whole "work your ass off" philosophy. So right now I kinda feel like a bum
