get a job before or after?
heres the deal:
about 6 months ago, i got caught buying drugs. (oxy to be exact). since im a minor blah blah blah, i wasnt arrested. i have court in about 2 months to decide my punishment. guess it will be on my record.
football end in 4 weeks, and afterwords id like to get a job. im guessing having the charge+ being a minor isnt that much of a bonus to potential employers.
my question is, should i
(a) start looking now
(b) start looking immediatley after football ends
(c) start looking after court/possible record
any advice?

It would look better to the court if you have a job.

Re: get a job before or after?
Having a job will only make you look better in the eyes of the judge, especially if your a minor.
I know how people get caught selling drugs, but how did you manage to fuck up buying drugs that badly?

Are you a pro football player? If not then what else do you do in your spare time? Getting a job soon seems like a good idea.

Re: get a job before or after?
Thing you gotta ask yourself is: Will I be able to get a decent job once I have a record?

Re: get a job before or after?
Just get it before. You're gonna have court costs, it looks better to the judge, and besides, it's nice to have a job anyway.
And your dealer is an asshole.

thats the question.
since im a minor, im not going to be getting a great job anyway. im pretty sure i can get it waived once i turn 18, so it shouldnt effect me down the road into adulthood.
also yes, the "dealer" (friend @ the time, i thought) got in more trouble then i did. serves him right. i actually made a topic awhile back about this, it all took place inside a day-treatment facility

You WERE arrested then. n00bs these days...just because you arent collared and in the back of a cruiser, doesnt mean that you werent arrested. If you didnt get caught, then you wouldnt have been arrested, but since you were caught and have court, you were arrested. You were not free to leave at that point in time when you were caught.
Also, you cant get your record "waived" if that is what you are talking about getting waived.

What I am saying is that you were arrested...if you had to go to court, you were arrested.
Also, you can never get anything erased from your record it will always be there no matter what.

Re: get a job before or after?
I was born in the USA, and I still am in the USA.
This is a major misconception that a lot of people have. You might be able to get your record EXPUNGED, but even then your record is only "hidden" from the public. I used quotes because it is still possible for a thorough record check from an employer to find out your entire record.
The police, probation officers, parole officers, judges, public defenders, attorneys, judges, constables, etc. will still see your entire record, expunged or not. No matter what happens, EVEN IF YOUR CRIME WAS WHEN YOU WERE A MINOR, your actual charge will remain on your record until you die, NO MATTER WHAT.
What, do you think someone can sell pot, get caught, complete their probation, get their record expunged then do it all over again and expect the same treatment as before, like a first time offender? HAHA no. Doesnt work like that.
Like I said before, even a THOROUGH BACKGROUND CHECK from XXXXX employer can bring up your EXPUNGED record. This usually does not happen, but it can happen, and does happen.
How old are you? You seem like you are very young.

This is true. I sealed my juvenile record, and it was brought back and used against me years later. They will always have it.

However, I believe all they can find out is that you have a sealed record, unless they get their information from someone involved in the legal system, which I believe is a violation of rights. At least with an employer and that, if it's for a later legal problem, they have to have reason to bring it up. That's always been my understanding.
