Stopping Smoking
My girlfriends been getting on my balls about smoking recently. I started about 3 months back whilst touring europe when i found it was a cheap substitute for food. I'd been smoking 6 - 12 per day till last week when i 'quit' because of the aforementioned girlfriend. My problem is this, considering i've demonstrated that i can quit when i want should i quit doing something that gave me pleasure. Or should i consider the health implications?

Re: Stopping Smoking
If you love your girlfriend, quit. But do in exchange for something. Get her to quit one of her habits that you don't like.
There's a lot of benefits of not smoking besides heath risks, like being able to taste things and not spending $20+ a week on something you literally just burn away.

One of many lies women like to propagate.
There are a million reasons to quit smoking, and "because my girl friend told me" is the absolute worst.

That's why I said he should do it in exchange for her quitting one of her habits as well.

Re: Stopping Smoking
You haven't been smoking very long. Maybe if you keep doing it, in the future it won't be so easy to just stop when you feel like it.
But I wouldn't quit because someone else wanted me to, it's hard to do it that way anyways. If you want to stop smoking for yourself it's much easier.

Re: Stopping Smoking
if you're worried about the ill health effects that come with smoking, then quit for yourself. if you don't give a fuck, and enjoy smoking, smoke it secretly or just keep going. if you like her that much, then temporarily quit until you guys break up. but yeah, 3 months isn't really much. you're in good shape for now.
