So I bought a dragon fruit becuase it looked/sounded pretty intruiging. I got it home and suddenly thought "How the hell do I eat this?"



Anyone know of any quick/simple recipes to include it in? Cheers.

I usually just cut it and eat it like a watermelon. Don't let the fruit stump you.

Texture of kiwi fruit but tasted like a very watery pear/watermelon combo.

That's crazy. I thought they only came in pink/purple.

I got some dragon fruit one time, ate half by itself and the rest with some vanilla ice cream and mangoes.

Just do with it what yo would do with like kiwi or something. You could probably make a killer tropical smoothie.

Reminds me of pickly prayer, uh, prickly pear fruit.

Peel it with a paring knife then cut it up like you see in this picture that CotDeath posted earlier:

Then you eat those bits, and try not to swallow too many seeds, because they're sharp - spitting them out is a good idea. I've only ever eaten the same kind as CotDeath posted, red or magenta on the outside with light green highlights, and greyish white flesh on the inside, indiscriminately peppered with the small black glassy seeds. I believe that's the main Vietnamese grown variety, and it's good with a scoop of chocolate ice cream.

I've never seen yellow/green Dragon fruit before unless it wasn't ripe, might be a different variety though.

Just cut it in half and spoon the insides out. Dragon fruit goes well in fruit salads, it's very refreshing.
