| Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more! |

Hep with ROM's
I just downloaded Metal Gear 1 and 2 and they are .rom files. I don't know what to do with them, so can someone give me a program that can run .rom's?
Many a TY in advance.

Re: Hep with ROM's
I got them from Romnation.net. I think that's pretty secure.

Re: Hep with ROM's
What systems are they for im assuming mgs 1 for psone and mgs 2 for ps2 right?
get the respective emulators to play them.
.rom files sound pretty shady they should be cd images...

Re: Hep with ROM's
Not Metal Gear SOLID 1 and 2, just Metal Gear 1 and 2. They were for the MSX2 home computer according to wiki. So...now what. >_<

God this thread is insane, and it amusingly reflects on certain unwritten rules around here.

Re: Hep with ROM's
It's understandable that the OP has just downloaded backups of the game he wants to emulate...Nothing wrong with that.

Still copyright infringement - youre thinking of if he actually dumped the files. A technicality of a difference, I know. And if youre going to take that view with a thread like this I question your consistency with locking of threads asking for where they can find roms et al, and deep-linking, as clearly such things are talking about backups.
To the OP, I say: Punch the door in the first boss fight. (Its not obvious.)
