Benzos VS Opiates
I guess I don't understand the difference.. I've been reading things about how opiates make you more sociable, they're a good drug to use when you have to deal with people.
So what is the difference, and can someone please give me a list of common opiates/benzos?

Re: Benzos VS Opiates
opiates for sure. the high is much more "clear" and you dont act as stupid. also, you can remember alot more and i just prefer nodding out then being really fucked up and blacking out.
benzos are good for parties and just to get really, really fucked up. usually you will black out and not remember hours of it.

Re: Benzos VS Opiates
In a very simple nutshell, without going into the Cl- channels, dopamine systems, glutamate and what-not....
Benzos are basically anything that ends in "pam" or "am" in the generic name.
Midazolam, Clonazepam (Klonopin), Alprazolam (Xanax)
Benzos act on the GABA receptors, much like alcohol.
They make you feel like everything is "ok", and some make you feel drunk. Blackouts are common at high doses. And these should not be mixed with alcohol, as this may result in death.... though if done right can be fun.
Opiates, from "semi, fully and non-natural" sources typically have the "-ine or -one" ending
Morphine, Codeine (Leen aka purple drank), Diacetylmorphine (heroin), Acetyldihydrocodeine, Hydrocodone (Vicodin) Oxycontin (Oxycodone)
Opiates mimic natural body "painkillers" called endorphins, by doing so they act on the same receptors as the endorphins and thus release pleasurable signals in the dopaminic system.
Fun Facts:
1) W/D from Opiates hurt because your body slows/stops its production of natural pain killer (endorphins).
2) During an opiate high your pupils will become constricted.
3) During the opiate high you will have trouble taking a piss.
4) Benzos come in a assortment of "flavors" primarily due to differentiating binding affinities on subtreceptors found on the GABA-A receptors.
5) As opposed to opiate W/D, which cant in itself kill you, Benzo W/D can.
6) Benzo W/D can result in seizures, extreme nervousness, and the feeling that cats are scratching at the insides of your soul.... you cant find relaxation or peace.
*W/D means withdrawal
Final Note of Safety:
Dont mix any of the 3 together unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing: OPIATES, BENZOS, ALCOHOL (and other downers).
Return the favor, and explain something to me one day Sindicut. :)

Re: Benzos VS Opiates
Both are CNS depressants. Opiates produce huge amounts of euphoria, where as benzodiazepines act like alcohol in the brain.
Common Opiates:
Heroin
Morphine
Oxycodone (Oxycontin)
Vicodin
Common Benzos:
Valium
Xanax
Klonopin

This thread is really stupid, there is no contest.
What class of drug is more enjoyable? Opiates.
What class of drug is more available? Opiates.
What class of drug is more popular? Opiates.
What class of drug makes you feel better? Opiates. And isn't that what it's all about...? I mean opiates do everything benzos do, then way way more.
Opiates mimic natural body "painkillers" called endorphins, by doing so they act on the same receptors as the endorphins and thus release pleasurable signals in the dopaminic system.
The body has no "natural pain killers." Pain is induced by the body upon the brain for damage control. If smashing your cock is incredibly uncomfortable, than you're likely to not do it again and you'll be able to make new bastard children with the same pain receptors -- but not "natural pain killers".

Re: Benzos VS Opiates
ok, here is the benzos and opiates in a nutshell.
benzos: incredible for anxiety, makes you feel relaxed and not have a care in the world. makes u very socialable, but if u take too many of em it makes u socable in a very bad way. i havnt withdrawled from opiates, but with benzos it was very difficult, mainly the anxiety x 10. ativan u should start out with and see how that helps your anxiety, 1mg might do u ur first time, but most likely u'll need 2 or 3mg. dose once when ur alone so u can gauge the strength. klonopin and valium are longer lasting benzos and have much more of a body high, while ativan is short acting and u feel it alot less. xanax is short acting also (lasts 2 hours as apposed to 8+ hours).
opiates relieve anxiety but some of them make you less sociable, namely codiene, vicodin, and oc. tramadol and dope made me very social for some reason. opiates will make u itchy, might give u a headache, and they will make you nausous at a high enough dose, counteract this with weed and your all set

WTF are you talking about? Endorphins are natural painkillers. Ever wondered why people get addicted to the gym, or spicy food? Because the brain releases endorphins, and the rush is addictive. Obviously, nowhere near as addictive as morphine/oxy/hydro/heroin/whatever, but it does have an effect.

benzo's, great for a crash or getting a good nites sleep...
opiates, great for life and the ability to block it out, the only way you'll really be amused by drooling on yourself as you get a revelation in your shoe laces.

Same here; benzos don't do that to me. Amps actually work well for me in that regard, too, which seems pretty odd to me-- seems when I'm taking low doses of amps I have all the patience in the world with people.
Both drugs are just dandy though so there's no point in me pointing out the low and high points of each. All I know is benzos make it easier for me to enjoy a few cocktails on top of them without tossing the entire contents of my stomach in a forceful projectile manner.

its called opitude, but it gets shit done. i could go for a good opitude at times...
going a bit off topic: i find amps [adderal/dexedrine] don't increase the irritability factor until much later in a binge. however meth is a different story...
but yea, i find it quite common people think of benzo's as something they're very well not.

I mean I get 0 effects from benzos, actually that's not entirely true... if I take too many I get amnesia just like everyone else, but aside from that I get 0 effects from benzo's.
As I've told many BLTCer's in the past; I once took 42 0.5 mg clonazepams and nothing happened, I didn't even fall asleep until 8 hours after I took them. And they weren't bunk because it was a legit prescription I got from shoppers.
They just don't do anything to me, it's odd.
Of course no one believes me, my doctors pretty much laughed when I told them that benzo's has no effect on me, as if it was an unthinkable impossibility.

stimulants don't make me irritable until im coming down, stims mellow me out more than opiates do(especially coke and ritalin). I'm pretty sure opiates are the only thing in the world that can make me want to stab my mom in the kidney for simply "walking too loud" or something equally unreasonable.

Same with me. When I take Adderall I have all the patience in the world for people, especially at work. The most retarded customer requests which I would usually face-palm over seem like no big deal at all when I'm on amps, and I'm always more than happy to not only do it, but do it well and act happy about it the whole damn time. And it's not because I'm "tweaking", either; I'm saying I get that effect from just medicinal doses (40 mg daily, in my case).
When I'm about six or seven hours post dose, though...well, I wouldn't say I have a "come down", but DAMN do I seem to fly off the handle when shit pisses me off at that point. Not over stuff that shouldn't make me angry, but rather, when something does, it's amplified x10.

Re: Benzos VS Opiates
Opinionated post
Well...considering my name I'm tempted to agree that there is no contest...but people tend to be different. I know. Weird huh?
I highly prefer Opiates to Benzos.
Opiates:
Make me generally more sociable
Make doing meaningless tasks far more tolerable
Take any pain I may be having away
Make stupid people slightly more tolerable (Benzos do this)
Generally make me feel just...good.
Get me more interested in things I normally wouldn't care about.
Benzos:
Relax me
Make stupid people more tolerable
Help me sleep
It all really depends on the type of person you are. Personally I could never consider Benzos more pleasing in any way but I know quite a few people that prefer them to Opiates.
opiates dont make me more sociable they make me more irritable when someone interrupts me in my own little world.
I get this sometimes too. It seems to happen more often with Hydrocodone than it does with Oxyanything. I'll have moodswings like a hungry pregnant bitch.

makes me want to do stims again but since tried to cut my friends neck ive stayed away from stims the sleep deprivation/comedown fucks me up too much.

For me it's the most prevalent with morphine and smack, mostly smack, i dont like being around people when im on smack cuz i just end up pissed at them for some lame reason or another.

Your wrong on both of them, get your facts straight: Benzos are the most abused class of drugs in the US and the most popular among adults and teenagers alike. Look it up, xanax is abused more then oxycontin is. The only thing benzos lack from opiates is the euphoria, but with benzos you dont have worry about any itch or a comedown(Benzos are also much better for comedowns then opiates are, and alot more pleasent). You also dont have to worry about constipation or naseus(sp?), a major factor on why many people cant tolerate opiates. On benzos you can do fucking anything without hesitation, and your not just slumped in a chair nodding off the whole fucking time. Benzos also dont have nearly the same OD factor that opiates do. Benzo withdrawal though is alot worse then opiate though.
Benzos FTW

Re: Benzos VS Opiates
My personal experience has taught me that mixing the two can be an extremely enjoyable experience but I've often read, from several sources, that mixing the two can cause asphyxiation and kill you. Large amounts of strong opiates can do this anyway but it'll happen a hell of a lot quicker with the combo. I've always enjoyed both of the stronger classes of both drugs (exp: xanax and OC), benzos (in general) I believe are less addictive than opiates while strong opiates can make the world feel like a very tolerable place. Here's a fun fact: The physical withdrawal from opiates is the strongest of all known drugs as is the mental withdrawal from shorter acting benzos.
Stay safe,
Bos

Fun, but bullshit. The physical withdrawal from benzos (and alcohol) can actually kill you. The physical withdrawal from opiates might feel like it'll kill you, but it won't.

My girlfriend strongly prefers benzos to opiates, but that's just because nearly all opiates make her sicker than a dog. I on the other hand, prefer opiates over benzos. But there are occasions where Id choose 60mgs valium over 30mgs oxycodone. It really depends on my mood I guess.

i find opiates cushion a stim comedown just perfectly, infact its what got me started on them...
the dude claiming benzo's are the most abused also forgets to mention they're typically not a schedule II drug, easier to get perscribed, and overall outsell opiates 4 to 1. most people like them because there's not much too them. some even have a reason to be taking benzo's be it a good one or not...
and yea a benzo w/d can kill you, like alcohol. opiates generally won't, and if you have the money to sustain such a large habit yet manage to get in poor enough health for w/d to kill you, you were on borrowed time anyway..

Now your just really splitting hairs Vilbe:
Anybody who walks into a hospital with a broken bone, serious back problems or any other type of serious injury is pretty much guaranteed to walk out with some type of opiate, whether it be codeine hydrocodone or oxycodone(Of course you have the occasional dickhead who will give you ibuprofen). Chronic pain suffers regular regimen of pills includes opiates for the most part. Look at Vicodin for instance; it is one of the most abused opiate on the market(If not the most next to oxycodone) and it is still considered a Schedule III in the US (And yes, the only hydrocodone you can get in the US is a Schedule III, no company makes a pure hydrocodone pill in the US). I can close a car door on my hand and get a script for an opiate; cant do that with xanax or klonopin now can you?
And yes, some people (like me) have a very good reason to be taking benzos, just like the millions of people out there who are able to get through their day and are able to sleep at night with the help of opiates. It's not a one-sided thing here man...

One) you did not prove me wrong, you simply called me a liar.
Two) lets go back to my example...so you do smash your cock and you're in tremendous pain. Why in the fuck would your CNS send endorphins, the neurotransmitter associated with the brain's reward system? So that you feel better and do it again? No.
Ok, now think about the last time you performed harm to your body. Did you feel a rush of euphoria? I sure as fuck didn't. I don't give a fuck what anybody wrote on wikipedia -- "The term endorphin rush has been adopted in popular speech to refer to feelings of exhilaration brought on by pain...supposedly due to the influence of endorphins" -- that's just wrong, scientifically and experimentally. The only "pain" I can think of that would warrant the release of endorphines would be pain from exercise, and that's not what I'm talking about here. Exercise is obviously good for the body and it will reward itself accordingly.
Think about shit first hand before you let an open source website make your opinion for you. Yes that means don't take what I say to be truth on this forum either, as totse is another open source even more available to the masses. What I want is for you to think about the arguments I made, challange them if you feel I'm wrong, and ultimately come to a higher understanding of the subject.

No, what I ment was that when u smash your hand with your door handle , you mind wont send hydrocodone to your body it will send the body's natural painkiller , endorphins, it won't get you high but it will knock off the severe pain a minimal amount.
The reason you feel pain is so that if you in fact smash your dick with a hammer, you know not to do it again, or have faster reflexes to avoid pain.
Hydrocodone overflows your endorphin receptors to an unnatural state which gets you high and reduces or minimizes pain. Which is why its prescribed, to people with severe back pain, or pain from accidents, etc.
Im not an idiot I was prescribed Vicodin and on the bottle it says, "Side effects: EUPHORIA;" among other things.

Are you seriously disagreeing with him about what the purpose of endorphins are? Cmon dude.
Endorphins are neurotransmitters that offer a variety of health benefits including emotional elation, stress reduction, improved immune systems, and decreased pain perception.
Have you ever severely injured yourself (or say smashed/broken a bone) and then noticed after a short time that the pain has lessened even though you're still "severely" injured? This is because in response to the pain being transmitted to the brain endorphins are released to help you "cope" for lack of a better term and to attempt to keep you from going in to shock from the pain. They are the bodies natural painkillers. They aren't going to get you phuX0r3d when you feel pain nor will they totally wipe out any pain that you are having. It doesn't work like that. They're a coping mechanism. Don't be a moron.
Take, for example, people that practice suspension. They insert large hooks into their skin and hang from them for a period of time. Why do they do this? It releases endorphins and makes them feel good. Their pain becomes pleasure. Why the fuck they go through that for a small endorphin "rush" is beyond me...but to each their own. I don't care. That doesn't mean that you're going to get wasted every time you fuck yourself up.
It's like (as stated) eating spicy food. Some people get a small "rush" from that as well. It damn sure ain't gonna replace your painkillers.
Don't even consider wiki a reliable source..just use common sense and common knowledge. Do you not know anything about the human body? I figured Endorphins we're day one shit in any science or Biology Class. Fuck, all you'd have to do is watch a little TV occasionally. Not the shit you likely watch..but turn on the National Geographic or Science channels once in a while. I doubt it's anything like you think it is ;). Most of all...practice what you preach. Come to a higher understanding of something. Learning is good therefore being wrong is good because you learn. See what I did there? It's alright. Don't be afraid. It'll all be over soon.
