Default Quiting Weed

So i have been smoking weed almost every day for the past 4 months, its been fun, and have had a good time and learn't alot that i wouldn't have if i was sober.

These days it seems like being high is just normal though, tolerance has set it, its not what it once was. Ontop of that its fucking expensive (i work 10 hours a week and have to pay for gaming/transport) and is turning me into a fat lazy slob.

ive gained like 5kg, lost my cardiovascular, and haven't had any improvement in my social life (i smoke alone 99% of the time), aside from this i just want to feel sober again, without that desire to go and smoke a bowl, theres still a place for weed in my life, maybe in the summer holidays, i just feel like its about to get out of control, i realised today that i might be using marijuana so frequently because of my dim social life in particular with the female species, as fapping is something i do frequently whilst high, the thing is life was just as good when i wasnt smoking, but i dont know if this is something i can have occasionally, its all or nothing at least at this stage in my life. And of course besides all this weed is illegal and putting my liberty at risk aswell as the fact im doing this behind my parents back and bringing a phrohibited substance into their house, which they would completly disagree with.

any help on how to stay sober?

Just not smoking seems to work.

You cant get physically addicted.

Find something to replace it...like speed =D.

That would help you lose weight, improve your social life, get your shit done, and fuck up your cardio even more than it is now. So its a win win win lose situation insted of a lose lose lose lose situation.

Just stop buying weed.
It's not that hard.

When someone asks you, "Want some herb?"

Say, "No thanks."

Stick with that for about two months, and you'll be fine.

Man guys stfu, it's obvious there's no real addiction to weed, but it can still be hard to go without, and being sober is boring, etc..

My suggestion is fill your days.. minimal sitting around at home, just go do SOMETHING, not necessarily physical but keep occupied. smoke cigarettes or a black while your friends smoke herb, then basically just get thru the week that way and get trashed on the weekends.

drinking will help your social life alot more than herb too..

but i'm done studying now, it's time to burn a bowl.

I recommend you don't bother "quiting" weed as such, just cut back to start. As other posters in this thread said weed isn't addictive, and it isn't, any more than WoW is. What you've got to do is buy a half O (or whatever amount you feel will last you a month at the pace you want) and make it last a month. If it doesn't just don't buy any more. Repeat for month 2, 3, etc, until you feel like doing something different.

Don't buy any other weed, just that half O. For special occasions take out a joint, for day to day type shit just smoke a small bowl (invest in a pipe or something if you don't have one) if you're bored. I don't know how much you're smoking but I cut back from 1/8-1/4 per day to a joint or two tops. Quiting cold turkey is gay, and ultimately futile unless you've got hobbies or some shit.

Just stop buying it. And if someone asks you if you want to burn then just say no.

It gets easier with time. I'm on the same page as you, I'm taking a long tolerance break. I do these about 2 times a year.

It's hard at first but after the first week you'll see that you're more clear minded, and you won't be getting those urges to hit bowls or smoke j's.

Anyways good luck with your quitting.

Man, I'm feeling you, but on a different level.

Was trying to get to a party tonight, stoned of course... was told to park in a certain area, found a house for sale and parked there.

My friend was supposed to pick me up down the road, being stoned, I went the wrong way and forgot my phone in the car... so ends up I guess my friend went through, didn't see me and I ended up wandering a neighborhood for a while. By the time I find my truck again, parked in front of the house for sale, there are 3 cops around it.

I just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible, I had bud in the car and on me. Cops were questioning me what was up, first thing I just asked is if I was under arrest. They told me it's based on how I answer the next few questions. I gave them as little as I could, I didn't know if it was a deed restricted community or how it worked, especially after they told me I was loitering and prowling. I just kept asking if I could go and they let me finally.

lol, it was funny when the one officer pulled out his pen and paper I just stopped talking completely. Before that, I just told him the general idea of why I parked there, to meet a friend and go to a party. Ass hole didn't believe me or something, told me I scared the old people inside. Oh well, I got in no trouble, although I almost got my truck towed! That would've pissed me off.

Gotta stop smoking so much.

Ditto that^
Keep busy for the first 3 days, all day, that'l stop you thinking about it so much.
I found its the first 3 days, after that its not so hard.

But within those 3 days its so easy to think,
Fuck, I'd rather be stoned than doing this.
or
I'd rather be doing this (nothing) while stoned.

I could do a UA & be clear now :>

Your a retard if you think because a house is for sale no one is living there. And what's even more idiotic, you park on private property when you have shit on you? How stupid are you? And don't blame it on being high. People as stupid as you have no right using drugs.

well yeah i have other interests, i do play Knight Online which is more addictive than WoW (been playing over 3 years), i play bass, read totse, read up on politics and current events n shit, listen to music, go to uni, work a job, the thing is all those things are fun on weed.

I personally like ruitine in my life, a suplementry drug like benzos would be cool.

The general reason/time i smoke is by myself when im playing online computer games, its just funner, but i play games ALOT.

so i figgure i am taking weed for granted and i should keep it for occasions like party's, road trips, mates etc.

easier said than done though.

my life is relativly uneventful.

At first just cut down and only smoke it a couple times a month, then after a couple months just limit it to special occasions, like going to a mates big party, new years or whatever, you'll find that you will actually enjoy the buzz more if you don't do it as often.

I quit by taking up a sport (downhill mtb riding) where smoking weed pretty much limited my ability to get better at it, and that also gave me an excuse for my mates..."na I cant smoke, I'm training for a race".

I still smoke like once a year and the buzz I get from it is great... its like having your first session all over again!

drug replacement is a bad idea, where as hobby replacement is a good idea. you said it best yourself your not socially inducted into smoking which is one of the bigger aspects to give up. so just don't buy any more for a while. don't pick up the bowl, pick up the bass...

suggestion stop smoking for now by yourself. someone wants to blaze you out and its convienent for you, take em up on it. it'll bring more excitement into your smoking career. sure your risking things, so don't be stupid. this way you have nothing to bring home, can still enjoy the herbz, without burning frequently..

Self control is usually a good start. As someone who was a daily smoker its not exactly hard, stop being a pussy and think how bad other addicts have it.

If weed is pretty much the only thing you do in your free time, you're probably going to go back to it unless you find some other activity to fill your time with. You'll need to change that somehow before/after you stop.

Also, I'm not sure how bad insomnia can be after quitting long-term smoking, but diphenhydramine would definitely help.

Insomnia and appetite lasts a few days at the most the worst you get is a slight bit of depression which is nothing compared to other drug w/ds. Your more or less back to normal after a few days. To be honest the first time I quit after a long period of smoking I didn't think I would be able to cope but its nowhere near as bad as you expect. Its still easy to smoke without descending into daily smoking again, as I said its just self control and its not like a physical addiction or anything.

so... its been a week since i quit. i just smoke a j and feelin frety good.

i think i still have a tolerance but its definitly gone down, im satisfyed that i could fast for 7 days and i reckon il be able to keep it to 2-3 times a week easily.

ill definitly be doing this more often, when i smoke too much i find it somewhat defeats the point.

meh, ive been smoking for about a year and a half every just about every day, and when i have weed usually multiple times a day...

its been about 6 days for me since i stopped... longest ive been sober for a long time... i never really have any problem quitting weed for a while... Ive managed to keep oxy a once every few month thing since i first tried it...

the next time i will do it will probably be after i get my wisdom teeth out... fuck the hydrocodone they are going to be giving me. im picking up a couple 40s... just pop them and enjoy the continuous pain relief with 1 a day in combination with the hydrocodone they will give me... and taking hits off the gravity bong should help...

then no more opiates for a while....

Pot is possibly the easiest thing to give up..including cigs. I'm having about 1000 times more trouble quitting the cancer sticks than I ever did with pot.

1. Don't replace this habit with another. That's not good business.

2. Find a hobby to take your mind off things.

3. Success.

It'll be easy dude. I smoked heavily for about 7-8 years when I quit. Every now and then I'll smoke a J or a bowl but that's about once every couple of months.
