Buying weed that still has chemical fertilizer in it
So I just picked up some weed and it seems to make a "snap crackle pop" sound when it burns. It gets me quite baked but vividly reminds me of some weed a picked up a few years ago which an older gentle man indicated to me it had been given fertilizer too late into the budding period. It leaves me with a slight sore throat and on the vapirizor it's not exactly pleasant. It gets me pretty baked though.
How can I determine is this weed is indeed laced with fertilizer? And is there a way to remove it (soaking in water) for several days, changing the water each day. But I have a feeling that woulden't turn out so good :(

Vape?
water would just rinse off a lot of the THC.
We've all come across bud like that; there really is nothing you can do I'm afraid.

THC isn't water soluble, so you won't lose too much, if any. You might lose some resin, but you certainly will still get high off of it.

Re: Buying weed that still has chemical fertilizer in it
ive heard putting ur weed in an oven on 150 for like 20 mins and it gets rid of all the bacteria nad stuff without burning the THC.
never done it myself maybe someone else knows...

Re: Buying weed that still has chemical fertilizer in it
my understanding of why this happens is that: the last month or last couple weeks or whatever the grower is supposed to quit giving chemicals to the weed. if they don't, the weed will not burn to a fine white ash when finished. is it possible the "true bud smoker" didnt pick out the seeds from the bud, thus causing the snap crackle and pop? unless the smoke is really harsh or smells like chemicals, id still smoke it anyways, prefibly from a bong.

Why on Earth would you run water over your buds?
Why on Earth are growers adding fertilizer directly onto the plant itself? When I add ferts to the soil and accidently get some on the plant and don't clean it off, that part usually burns, turns brown and dies.

Re: Buying weed that still has chemical fertilizer in it
It's not added to the plant itself.
Somehow, everyone really thinks that if the last week of growing you don't flush the plant you get a chemical tasting plant.
And by flush, I mean to water for the last week with JUST water.
It's really not true, I've smoked bud that was and wasn't flushed, and I KNEW it was or wasn't flushed, I didn't just guess because it tasted weird and made my throat sore. Having someone that doesn't flush or does flush really doesn't change anything.

Re: Buying weed that still has chemical fertilizer in it
FLUSH MOTHER FUCKERS FLUSH!!!
As for the audible
http://cache.gizmodo.com/assets/resources/2007/06/K_group-scp.jpg
That happens when you leave a seed in your weed.
Sometimes a stem.
Sometimes it can be a lone rider, hiding in your bud. Particularly prone to letting one slip by if you constantly get promo shit, and let your guard down.
If the amount of fertilizer needed to do something like that would be uneconomical and INSANE, to find in your bud.
:)

Re: Buying weed that still has chemical fertilizer in it
Laced with fertilizer? Hahahahahahaha that's fucking retarded.
When you grow weed, most people use chemical nutrients like; nitrogen/phosphorus/potassium ect to mix in with their water and water the plants with. When it crackles and sparks is because the grower didn't thoroughly water the plants with plain water in the last week or 2 of growing to leech out any leftover excess nutrients.
Only way to tell is taking a couple hits before buying. It's not gonna kill you or anything but I would pay a much lower price for it or get some elsewhere.

Re: Buying weed that still has chemical fertilizer in it
What the fuck? Haven't you idiots heard of water curing? The THC definitely isn't "washed off". I've heard from some that flushing doesn't matter that much, but I tend to think it does make a difference between great tasting bud that gets you high as balls and weird tasting bud that gets you high as balls. You probably won't be able to tell the difference between flushed and not unless you personally know the grower. Just smoke the shit.

Re: Buying weed that still has chemical fertilizer in it
I think if theres lots of black ash left after the pots smoked, that would be the fertilizer.
I guess if theres lots of Sparky stuff (Bright White & Greenish) when its smoked, then theres a excess of Phosphorus.
Its just a guess but thats what Phosphorus looks like when it burns, can't be good for you.
Anybody like to discuss that?

Possibly tampered/sprayed weed? Just wash it with some water and dry it.

Re: Buying weed that still has chemical fertilizer in it
I harvested three plants' main colas early this year due to bud worms and didn't get to properly flush and in pre-cure testing they did the snap crackle bullshit too.

Re: Buying weed that still has chemical fertilizer in it
It's most likely crackling because it wasn't cured right. Too much moisture present in the buds will do that.

Well being used to seeing tampered weed lately I would probably lean towards the former being likely... Why people actually choose to do that to the weed they are trying to sell I don't quite know but what he is describing sounds pretty much it.

You are the fucking idiot if anything. There is other ways to cure your weed than jar sweating, and water cure is one of them. And the reason water cure is used in the first place is to be able to maximize feeding schedule up till the very harvest to without worrying about the fert taste cuz it water will leach it out in curing process.
And flushing makes big difference, ime unflushed nonorganic heavily feed (just under the threshold of n/p/k toxicity) bud WILL taste bad, harsh, crackle, and CAN leave sore throat. Water cure WILL take care of that. Under-optimal feeding or organic nutes might not be as significant in regards to flush-nonflush contrast.

So can I still water cure my buds, or is it too late?
